Okay,

The Trekker was tested on the VW online platform today, and the factory needs to provide information on whether and how it's possible.

My icon_smile.gif will then call me.

Okay,

Just received a response from the dealer:
Code:

VW erteilt keine Freigabe zur Nachruestung der RKA
auch keine Hinweise.

My dealer, who is really trying and interested, is now trying to find a Passat with the same control unit and already encoded RKA (registration code authorization) so that he can derive something from it.
He had one just like it, but it had a different ABS control unit (different part number).

That's quite complicated, isn't it? icon_wink.gif
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll get a reference vehicle soon.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Even if you think you've found a suitable vehicle, there are often small details that might not fit. At the moment, we can only try out a few potential options, which is something I actually wanted to avoid, because it's not entirely risk-free.

Hello Martin,

As promised, here's the scan of my ABS control unit. Unfortunately, our TL numbers don't really match up...

Code:
Address 03: ABS Brakes        Labels: 3C0-614-095.lbl
   Part No SW: 3C0 614 095 S    HW: 3C0 614 095 S
   Component: ESP 440 C2     H015 0004
   Coding: 0015734
   Shop #: WSC 05311

No fault code found.

Okay,

I was once brave.

13626 + 2048 = 15734. Let's encode it.

Upon starting the engine, the tire pressure monitoring symbol now appears on the instrument cluster (as a light test).
(Set button is not yet installed).

I'm not brave enough to drive a 235 tire with significantly low tire pressure just to test the system. I think I'll wait until I have my winter tires on to do that.

I'm also waiting for the winter boots to arrive.
I'm already curious to see if it works icon_smile.gif.

Hmm, I was wondering if it would be enough to just install ONE winter tire.

But the 205/55 16 tires are only 1.77% smaller than the 235/45 17 tires... I wonder if my colleague RKA will notice?

Hi,

I think so. In my case, it even detected a self-tapping screw that had drilled through the profile (without any loss of pressure), and that happened after only about 100 meters. During that time, I couldn't even locate where the noise was coming from.

However, you should first take a longer ride with your regular wheels and then switch them.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

Yesterday, I let some air out of the left rear tire, from 2.7 to 2.5 bar.

The RKA (likely referring to a specific device or system) reported no errors. It's probably not properly calibrated (because there's no switch yet). There are also no errors in the 03-ABS (likely referring to an Anti-lock Braking System).

Hi,

war das nicht so. Soll-Luftdruck aufpumpen und dann Reset durchführen. Move aside now.
The display indicates that the air pressure has dropped by 0.2 bar.

Ich meine so war das beim O2 lt. Merchants.

It will be difficult without a switch. Perhaps with VAG-COM?

Regards,
Timo.

Move aside now...

Not quite.
The vehicle then *learns* the tire characteristics.

I suspect that it stores various data related to speed, wheel rotations, and possibly even steering angle.

Then, it can later compare the learned data with the current data and identify deviations in individual tires.

Since the speedometer went off when I activated the function, I thought it would also start learning.

He probably didn't...

Or something like that. Ultimately, it's just a switch that sets a bit within the control unit, right?
Can't this be configured using VAG-COM?

Regards,
Timo.

No.

The switch doesn't set a bit (permanently). It initiates the calibration process.
And, to my knowledge, this cannot be done using VAGCOM.

You also need to recalibrate after switching from winter to summer tires, so I need the switch anyway.

Hello,

Are the switches already installed?

I am also interested in a retroactive activation for the O² TDI.
