The following describes how to retrofit the (simple) tire pressure monitoring system to a G5.

"The encoding (subtracting 16384) doesn't work for me because my ABS is only encoded with 13626. Also, 16k is used for trailer stabilization."

Is the 3C handled differently here?
Which codes are relevant for Auto-Hold (only control unit 53?) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) in the 3C platform?

Hello Martin,

What raises a slight concern is the fact that the presence of the RDÜ (Remote Diagnostic Unit) can be encoded in the CAN gateway of the 3C system.

STG 19 (CAN gateway)
Byte 02 Bit 1 65 - Tire Pressure Monitoring System installed.

I suspect that the 3C system uses its own dedicated control unit, and that the braking control unit is not responsible for it.

In comparison, here is the coding for the Golf V:

STG 03 (Brake electronics)
00641 - with tire pressure monitoring system (PR-7K1/7K6)
17025 - without tire pressure monitoring system (PR-7K0)

Okay, here's my private message as well:


RDK is not the same as RDÜ.

RDÜ is equipped with 4 radio frequency sensors on the rims, which undoubtedly has its own control unit.

RDK stands for the fun of having all the tires rotate at the same speed when the steering angle is 0, otherwise, one of the tires has lost air pressure.

The difference in the 3C marking is that it sometimes includes the tire symbol WITH (RDK) an exclamation mark on the switch, and sometimes WITHOUT (RDÜ) an exclamation mark.

I learned something new again .

Now, the only question is, which encoding is necessary for you in the 3C .

As I see it, there are 3 options.

a.) Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) via ABS.

b.) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with position recognition -> proprietary control unit.

c.) RDK without position recognition (Passat!) -> module integrated into the comfort control unit; but with its own address (65).

Okay, so far as I've skimmed the PSS (presumably a document or test), it seems like option c) is the only one available in the Passat (likely referring to a car model or a specific section).

however, there are comfort control units for...

- "with tire pressure monitoring system" and
- "with tire pressure monitoring system that adjusts based on wheel speed"

What is the TLN (Technical Log Number) of your comfort system?

There is no coding table for the 3C ABS; the coding is performed exclusively online using a target/actual comparison with the value that was programmed at the end of the tape.

The coding table for the PQ35 is NOT applicable to the PQ46, as a completely different ABS system is used. My suggestion would be that we take a close look at your data and compare them, as I have already managed to do this in the past and found the settings for the transmission variant - finding the one for the RPA shouldn't be too difficult either...

I've (already) realized that, but I previously thought that it only existed as a variant with the "Komfort" package (on the Passat).

It's not reading anything other than the ECU part number; we already have the coding information. However, it would be helpful to have the vehicle data carrier or its option codes so we can identify things like the brakes, etc.

There are only two versions of brakes available, and I have the "smaller" ones, the 16-inch version.
