As I already informed you via email, the adapter is working perfectly on my A6 2.5 TDI (C4).
Even the short circuit I created in my haste and excitement while soldering, which immediately damaged the trace carrying the power supply voltage during the first test, didn't cause any permanent damage to the circuit!
Now I'm only using VAG-COM, but I'm not entirely sure how to use all of its features.
I would especially like to thank you for your answers to my various questions; it's not often that you receive such prompt support.

I achieved improvement by changing the value of the 100k potentiometer from its midpoint to approximately 65-70k.

I can only agree with the positive comments about Maik's adapter. I've been using it since yesterday, and it's working perfectly with my old P1 notebook and Windows 95 so far.

I'm having a small problem with the adapter.
It had always worked well before. I haven't used it for a while. But after the engine light came on, I had to take the adapter out of storage again.
The software (VAG-COM) recognizes the adapter, and the test is completed successfully. However, when I then click on the 'Engine' control unit or 'Combination Instrument,' etc., it attempts to connect four times and then displays an error message (approximately: 'could not communicate').
Even though I'm automatically searching for STG, it's not finding anything.

Do I need different software now, or what could be the problem?
Oh, the LED lights up (red) when it's connected.

P.S. I tried this on 2 vehicles, and I got the same result on both (a VW T4 and a Passat 3B).

When using it with the IPAQ (which is why I switched away from my own adapter), and with the software from arlab, communication problems often occur – but these problems cannot be attributed to your adapter.

Since the adapter used to work, you don't need any other software. I think you either have a broken cable to the OBD2 connector or a defect on the circuit board. Just send me a private message.

I'll also be assembling and testing my simple adapter soon, and of course, I'll include a surge protector for emergencies.

I would be interested in a KK version of the V3.1 adapter.
In testing, the adapter performed well with several laptops and vehicles, and the components cost less than 10€ from Conrad (of course, without the enclosure and connectors). Current rating: 1+.

The diagnostic module in my Beetle is located in a very inconvenient place, making it extremely annoying when logging data during operation. I would like to install the entire adapter in the car, but my concern is that I don't know if it will still be possible to connect to it for other purposes, such as a visit to the workshop. If I were in your position, I would remove the OBD connector, tap into all the wires at the back, and run the tapped wires to a convenient location in the car.
There, for example, you can install a diode coupling, attach the corresponding counterpart to the adapter, and that's it, the pergola is ready .

I also have a small problem. I soldered the adapter together, and when I test it with the VAG software, it recognizes the adapter (the LED test also works). However, as soon as I connect the adapter (i.e., the K-line), the adapter test no longer works. I also cannot establish a connection .

I have VAG 4.02 (shareware) and a Passat manufactured in 1998.
