"One argument is still missing: The OHC (Overhead Cam) design is stiffer, while in the OHV (Overhead Valve) configuration, the pushrods and rocker arms act as elastic elements between the camshaft and the valves. To prevent the valve drive from entering resonance within the engine's operating speed range, which could cause the valves/springs to vibrate at their resonant frequency, the springs in the OHV design must be stronger to keep the resonant frequency outside of the operating speed range."
