because it's smoking so much,

If the exhaust is full of oil, drill holes in it and then weld the holes shut afterward. Otherwise, it will take forever for the oil to drain out, and it's a huge mess.

Have we ever seen this before?

Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Does your original feeder not have a paper guide on the output side?

How about simply redesigning the compressor side (with 6 screws in the aluminum housing)?
They should actually fit together.

I would leave it as is! As Rainer already mentioned, who knows if the internal components are 100% identical?

As TDI-Daniel says, I will do the same. I've already done it personally. I installed a turbocharger from a Passat into an Audi. I simply reattached the fresh air ducts. Before installing anything, check twice to make sure everything is the same. You can definitely do it.

So, just for information, I now know what the problem is. Attached to the flange of my turbocharger is usually a type of silencer that belongs to the turbocharger and is not available separately. The only solutions are either to machine your own flange or to install a compressor housing from a GT1749VB with part number xxx016G. I'm trying the latter now...

Okay, I just installed a compressor housing from a 016G turbocharger. So far, it's working great.

Okay, from Marzocchi's text, it is clear to me that the P&P compressor housing can be modified. Would that be a solution for my problem?

Would that be a solution for my problem?!

If your old compressor housing is still completely undamaged despite the damage to the supercharger, AND if your two superchargers have identical outlines of the impeller blades (which I would definitely not bet on, given the various revisions of the VB!), -> IMO yes.

Okay, I've thought about it again and scrapped the idea. I haven't actually seen the broken turbo yet, but I did feel around inside, and the shaft had a lot of play, which means it's definitely worn out and likely damaged the housing as well.

I'm starting to lose it. Why change a turbocharger and halt the production of everything else? That's just ridiculous.

Hello.

IIt's just like that!

I don't really understand these modifications to the compressor side, and other things people do. You install a new turbo to potentially save just 100 euros.

All the shafts have play. They are centered by oil pressure. If your shaft has axial play, then the charger is defective. Don't worry too much. After you remove your old charger, you will see that you have the option to rearrange the fresh air sides.

. . . If the internal shape of the compressor housings is identical, and if the old housing has no signs of wear or other damage.
For a quick look inside, I would definitely remove the old compressor housing; it requires minimal effort with the potential to save a lot of time and money.

Hello!

Since I managed to get my car running again after 14 hours of work, and I'm sure I won't be the last person to encounter this problem, I'll contribute a solution.

First, I would like to mention that I would never have been able to do it without charlyfirpo, who was there to help me with all my questions.

Well, the only thing you need is a curved hose that's approximately 30cm long and has the VW part number 1J0 145 822 E , which isn't exactly the cheapest at €116.
One side of the hose connects to the turbocharger, and the other side connects to the intake manifold (which leads to the intercooler). On the other turbocharger, this hose is naturally shaped differently because it attaches to the top of the turbocharger (using a three-bolt flange) rather than to the side.

I'm sure this issue will affect some people, and I hope that this post has explained the problem clearly enough so that they don't have to go without a car for 1.5 months as well.

"Also, I would also like to thank you for the numerous responses!"

best regards,
vantheman

Thank you very much!
I'm having the exact same problem.
Perhaps we could archive this issue somewhere or something like that?

Best regards,

Manfred.
