SMC, BMC, CMC, Ultramid.
Generally, I was referring to all the plastic components used in automobile manufacturing.
Bumpers are okay. Fenders are so-so. Crossmembers, headlights...
But when I saw my BMR for the first time WITHOUT any cover (including plastic ), I was already scared.
It's obviously initially just a gut feeling. But if, after 2.5 years, the headlight housings start to fall apart from the inside and the EGR valve gears have no teeth left, then the cost reduction has clearly been excessive.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Having read some articles in the industry press, I now believe that the cost advantage isn't really the main driver, but rather just one of many factors. What's more important is the possibility of greater design freedom. In a typical engine (MTZ), there's an oil module consisting of an oil pan with a filter, a heat exchanger, and the pump housing – all made of plastic, quite complex, but very lightweight. I see the motivation here: combining components to reduce weight and compact the overall assembly.
I find it sad when a gear loses its teeth. A plastic valve cover, on the other hand, doesn't bother me much at first. Time will tell us what else is added and what needs to be there initially.
Look at airplanes; Boeing and Airbus are struggling to keep up with the development and construction, precisely because everything is becoming so complex, and in the case of Boeing, it involves working with huge amounts of new composite materials where they simply lack the know-how. Let's hope that all manufacturers of plastic parts will soon have this expertise and that these components will function reliably .

"That's correct, it's nested."
It doesn't necessarily have to be a piece from the specialist press featuring potentially novel components.
The BMR valve cover has all sorts of oil separators and other fancy features.
However, it also has a plastic suction nozzle that has reportedly caused the shift lever shaft to become detached in other cases.
"This shouldn't happen... and the flaps keep opening and closing constantly."
Then, just like with the threaded fittings, one could simply cast more stable casings around them, right?
I'd really like to remove my EGR valve sometime... but it will probably break down right when I do.

At a mileage of 147,000 kilometers, the Audi's wastegate is broken again, same problem as before.
Is there a version with metal gears available now?
Best regards, Rainer.

Good question - no. Next time, I'll take one apart.
Around here, the AGR valves typically last for about 140,000 km.

Is it possible to find out the manufacturer? It didn't last very long. LG, Onkel BM

Hello Rainer,
Could you please provide me with the exact dimensions of the white gear?
Perhaps there's an idea or a possibility to create something out of steel.
I already have the tooth count (17/51) from the photo.
I would also need the module, the center bore, and the height of both wheels.
I'm not making any promises, but it would be worth trying to find an alternative to buying a new part.
Regards, Mpire. fehlen Dir die Worte, entscheiden die Taten!

Hello,
I can look up the manufacturer.
Replacing the gear isn't enough; the sprocket is worn out too.
Best regards, Rainer.

I completely overlooked it (even though it was marked); for me, the gear was in the foreground .
Creating such a segment is not rocket science either. At first glance, it looks like the tooth segment is screwed in!

So, this component is exactly the same as the other one from Siemens VDO.

No, there's no screw; since I couldn't find anything else to secure it with, I suspect it's simply pressed onto the toothed shaft.
And it broke off quite firmly when I tried to pry it loose from the wave.
Best regards, Rainer.

"Hmm, that's a shame. The double gear itself wouldn't be so difficult, but if the segment can't be properly and durably attached to the shaft or plate, it's not worth it. It would have been nice to find another solution besides replacing it and potentially making it more durable."
Best regards,
