However, this doesn't necessarily require a damaged exhaust system. A defective differential pressure sensor, for example, is completely sufficient to suspend the regeneration process until the defect is resolved.

Regardless of what the differential pressure sensor indicates, different vehicle models initiate a regeneration process after a certain number of kilometers.

Annoying and resource-intensive when everything works as intended, but potentially a lifesaver in case of errors...

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello everyone,
I'm surprised by how much feedback I'm getting on this issue.
This clearly demonstrates that there is a significant need for information.

Regarding Tom's last post:
I mentioned before that the VW workshop, instead of using the hoses (which Tom described as lines), now uses metal pipes.
That's a clear indication that there were problems with the hoses in the past. Or are the metal pipes simply cheaper? Every penny counts.
By the way, the defective hose wasn't just burnt; it was completely burst. It looked like a firework.

I didn't know that a faulty hose could potentially cause a major engine failure. I also drove around for a while with my damaged hose, but fortunately, I didn't encounter any dust storms on the highway.

What I'm still missing is information about the maximum ash load capacity for the Scharan 2.0 TDI DPF with the "BRT" engine. Is the particulate filter actually almost full with 147 grams of ash content? The limit is supposed to be 150 grams (according to the VW workshop). Does anyone know this or can confirm it?
Could there be damage before the engine loses power due to a clogged filter?

By the way, I've already checked with several independent workshops and auto parts stores. There are no aftermarket diesel particulate filters available for my model. I actually need the original VW filter. Just so you know.

Best, Jo.

Hello Rainer,

Approximately 215,000 km, no chip tuning or similar modifications. 2.0 TDI DPF, manufactured in 2006 (BRT engine). Maintenance performed according to the longlife service interval.

According to an expert, the most likely cause is a defect in the fuel injectors due to overheating, which is caused by backpressure from the exhaust gases.
Even Volkswagen, with whom I am currently in a dispute, does not question this. The issue at hand is whether I was informed about potential consequences before continuing to use

It's an 'open' secret that there are vehicles that experience these types of damage. One of the many updates for the 125KW model should also minimize this problem. The Touran series with the headrests was likely in a similar situation.

Problem - nobody openly says it or admits this information to the customer in the event of a claim. icon_confused.gif
