Hey, is it true that you always ruin people's bedtime mood?
...the fact that you need 11V and then 13.8V after increasing the speed makes me think...
VKM ( = an internal designation for the lady with the (curious-)long nose) hasn't experienced a total failure yet.
Before the mares with the (small) Eutern start making accusations, I'll measure the D+ line to the BNStG myself, or I'll take a look at what "auditom" wrote using PN.

Anyone can test this by disconnecting the regulator plug, starting the engine, and then slowly increasing the throttle while monitoring the onboard voltage.

Hello everyone!
According to Mulle's Polo description, the battery was completely drained after a few days.
However, I don't think the engine was idling for that long.
That makes me think, especially if it's similar to the Fabia situation.

Sorry, when I said "normal", I meant the reaction of the (intact) starter motor to the defect of the missing initial pre-engagement

...and he was exactly right with his 99% :wink:
The aforementioned connector is located above the cooler, on the left.
However, it appears that this area has already been patched, as the connector is connected to the original cables for D+(blue) and DF(brown/red(?)) coming from the engine cable harness using crimp connectors.
The current problem was caused by incorrect routing and, consequently, chafing on the repair line. If the yellow wires had been properly terminated and not twisted and tucked into a loop, the D+ would not have chafed at two points simultaneously.
Attached are self-explanatory images.
I can now confirm that the BNStG provides a battery voltage to the D+ line when switched ON, which can be easily measured. However, the 12V is also present at the DF connection, which initially caused confusion for me.

On VKM's Fabia, the engine warning light also comes on and stays on until the engine starts! *note*
