An oil change for my 6-speed (ESW) after 230,000 km resulted in the oil appearing as new transmission fluid. I then used the original VW oil to fix the gear shifting problems, which made a significant improvement, especially when the engine was cold. |

I have replaced the tires on almost all of my cars with TAF-X/SMX-S.
With the 35i Passat and Audi A6 AEL, there was hardly any noticeable improvement. These cars also didn't have any issues before, and the operating forces felt only slightly lower.
With the Dodge Ram with NV 4500 and the Volvo V70 with M56, it was surprising that both were difficult to shift, and the lower gears could only be engaged with force or not at all.
Immediately noticeable were, subjectively, halved gear forces, and after some time, the problems disappeared. After 15,000 km, the gearbox felt like new and had no defects.
My conclusion: When facing problems, it's worth trying, but it can sometimes take 10+ thousand kilometers for the full effect to be realized (Why is this?).
TAF-x is now likely called Syntrans Transaxle |

Hello,
Short feedback: After approximately 105,000 km, I checked the oil, and it still looks very good. Therefore, I'm postponing the oil change. The level was also okay.

I suspect that this is related to the deposits (like curdled cream) on the synchron rings. It will probably take some time for the new oil to mix with or dissolve the deposits. Of course, it also depends on the type of gearbox, whether it makes a difference or not. 3B5 AJM

Hi,
I only use fully synthetic 75W-90 gear oil, preferably from Liqui Moly or Pennasoil, with API GL4+ or GL5 specifications.
However, I only notice the difference when driving the heavily loaded TT with a short shifter and gear lever, and only in winter. The difference is much more noticeable in the cold. Specifically, the 2nd gear. The oil flows better when refilled compared to the original filling. (Mileage > 210,000 KM)
Typically, the gearbox oil is a lifetime fill, where only the fill level needs to be checked as long as there are no defects or leaks.
(Many people who love pressure washers don't even realize what all they can damage with them)
Bye

Hi,
The ShortShifter/Shortened Shift Path is quite pleasant because the original shift paths on the TT are quite long.
The shift interlock (completely unnecessary nonsense for normal operation ) ensures a temporary reduction in engine speed when shifting gears, without requiring the clutch to be engaged even at full throttle. "Adjusting a synchronized transmission is extremely tricky, while adjusting a sequential transmission is a "piece of cake," but most people probably haven't installed or rebuilt one.
Disadvantage: High stress on the gearbox.
Advantage: Significantly shorter switching phase and constant power output, as the charging pressure does not need to be built up first, for example.
Bare changes in the boundary area (curves).
On some high-end bikes, this is also already standard.
The Quattro TT has not been damaged so far, even with a current mileage of over 215,000 km.
I wish you a happy New Year. Bye
Jürgen

Excavation ...
I just saw that the MQ250 6-speed has a new lid.
The new one now has an additional magnet inside.
So, ich sollte also mal das Öl wechseln... und ggf. den neuen Deckel verwenden
