I am a camper with a trailer weighing 1300kg, and I often travel in the Alps.
I don't think the warning light would truly reassure my conscience; rather, I want to respond to the engine's operating conditions with my driving style.
And having my co-driver put their VCDS (presumably a device) on their lap for the entire trip isn't really my style, because we prefer to look out the window!!

It's enough to use VCDS once to find the maximum possible oil temperature, and then it works perfectly well without any unnecessary complications.
If you have an oil temperature gauge, do you still need to look out the window when driving uphill?
Since I know that my Toledo, when loaded with 1500 kg of camping equipment (I like to camp in the wild), doesn't exceed 130°C in temperature, I'm choosing not to do it.
It has been performing flawlessly for the past 330,000 kilometers.
