After 1300 km, it's really not that much better.

I decided to be bolder, because now I know what the rear spoiler feels like:

First, there's this "free angle," which feels like a real struggle.
But then the rear end sticks like crazy!

Weird, because it used to stick immediately.

I'm considering borrowing 2 Conti3er tires from Kollesch to test them out.

Depending on the Luftdruck-o-mat, I've tried everything from 2.5 to 3.0 bar.

icon_arrow.gif is simply terrible.

With 3.0 bar and an empty trunk, it's likely to be even worse.

In bekannten Kurven hatte ich heute mehrfach Besuch von der ESP-Lampe icon_exclaim.gif icon_eek.gif
Even in situations that I didn't find so bad.

Plan:
- Test 2 sets of 3 tires from a colleague (to prove that the Continental Sport Contact 5 is the problem)
- In case of emergency, drive with 5 cars in the front and 3 cars in the back.
- Requesting a VW repair shop to perform a conversion
- Ask Conti to convert

I am still in disbelief at how, after years of enjoyment, the ContiSportContact turned out to be such a greasy, sluggish product.

From the profile picture, I have a theory:
In 2007, the SportContact 2 in 235/17" were still proper sports tires. The mainstream trend was to use a smaller size. The 3er was also like that.
Meanwhile, every Hyundai i10 now has 225/17" tires, so the SportContact 5 has become a mainstream tire – I can clearly see this in the tread pattern.

For serious use, i.e., from 18", the marketing department then provided the 5Ps. By the way, it looks much more like a SportContact and therefore, much more similar to the 3er, from the profile.

So, entweder 18" von Kansas oder ein 3er, oder eine andere Marke icon_smile.gif

Short update:

Achstausch (3-wheel rear, 5-wheel front) provided a solution:

- The servo is steering in a very "servo-like" manner.
- Steering precision in motion "OK"
- No more rear-wheel spin, but also no excessive sliding over the front axle.
- Test drive at 5:00 PM is not really useful (shame in me - but I wanted to know immediately)

Overall, for me, it's "OK" so far.

**Impact on Users and Stakeholders:**

The changes to the system will have the following impact on users and stakeholders:

* **Users:** Users will benefit from the new features, improved user interface, enhanced security, and performance improvements

Requirement:
Passat Variant Sportline, 170 hp TDI, 2007 model, 127,000 km

in winter 205/55 R16
Front: Dunlop 4D 5mm
back Dunlop 3D 5mm
- moved smoothly
- easier to steer in winter
- always less grip in winter
So, everything is normal and as expected from the tires.

Summer 235/45 R17
- until autumn 2013
front: Conti SportContact 2 (DOT xx08) 2mm)
back: Conti SportContact 3 (DOT 4611) 7mm

now (the 3s to the front):
front Conti SportContact 3 (DOT 4611) 7mm
back new Conti SportContact 5 (DOT 0214) 7mm

Experience
The first trip with summer tires was shocking. One should check the wheel nuts after 50 km.
I was so happy to take the first open turn, but I was horrified when I felt the rear end wanting to come around. But it wasn't complete, so he didn't break out.
After creating this thread and covering 2000 km "breaking in" and "getting used to" the car, and after experiencing the ESP warning light flashing while driving through familiar curves in my hometown, it became clear that something was wrong.

First idea
.. to establish proof, it was necessary to replace the 5-element system with a 3-element system, as suggested by the colleague.
Now I know that it would have disappeared then. But I still had the 5s.
Okay, let's start with the ...

A simple idea
I'm swapping the front and the back.
I was able to do it myself, without any parts or outside help.
All four tires had a pressure of 2.7 bar each 24 hours ago, but it still caused me to notice it in the first few centimeters icon_exclaim.gif:
- it is much easier to steer

Short test drive during rush hour and later at night confirmed:
- No more tail wagging
- Steering, especially abrupt steering, should be discreet.
-- Excellent handling at the rear, perfectly stable
-- Completely fine on the initial test - it might be a bit more noticeable, but given my hypersensitivity, it probably wouldn't be a problem.

Conclusion
Even when purchasing, the 5-packs were confusing.
Yes, the 5-inch tires are also popular and visually represent a mainstream tire.
Googlet the following Contis:
Sport Contact 3
Sport Contact 5P
Sport Contact 5
Premium Contact 2

In my opinion, one can visually recognize the relationship between SC3 and SC5P, and also distinguish between SC5 and PC2.

I also find it understandable:
235er 17" were "sport sizes" during SC2 and also during SC3, which were only used by people who liked to drive quickly.
Today, every 85-horsepower 1.2-liter Golf has these sizes... it looks nice, but Grandpa Karl doesn't want to have the last椎骨 crushed, so the now-standard 17-inch class is tuned much softer (which I can clearly see confirmed by my experience).
For today's "Heizer" models, the 5P is available from 18".

I still don't understand why a car completely equipped with SC5 remains drivable.

So, wer also noch komplett Conti Sport Contact 3-Reifen hat und zwei neue 5er kauft/benötigt, bitte unbedingt diese hinten montieren und darüber berichten.
Then, probably, it will be more towards the front.

EDIT:
According to my contact at Conti, the 3er is still available for order.

Addendum:

At 36°C outside, the 5-inch tires perform well over the front axle when driving in a very aggressive manner, i.e., when driving in a distinctly provocative style.

@MartinViewing profile: Martin:

Hi,

Initially, I was also quite surprised by the switch from Bridgestone RE050 to Michelin Primacy 3. However, I knew that the Michelin was more focused on the comfort, fuel efficiency, and longevity aspects. Therefore, it was simply a matter of getting used to it. The Michelin allows for larger lean angles, which is something I missed due to the extremely sharp response of the Bridgestone. Ultimately, the transition from winter tires (Dunlop 3D in 205/55/16) to summer tires (225/45/17) is no longer as significant as it used to be once you've gotten used to it. I am now equally pleased with the smooth ride over the imperfections of the road and the approximately 0.15 liters less fuel consumption.

However, I always change all 4 in the sentence, in order to avoid such balance problems like yours.
Gruß
Roger

Hello...

Use the same tires on both vehicles - but in 5P specification?? - actually the best tires I've ever driven, especially on the Touareg!

However, he really reacts quite sensitively to changes in air pressure.

However, I would recommend installing the same tires at the front and rear to achieve a reproducible result - based on my experience with motorcycles, this can often work well or, conversely, not at all!

The 5P system is only available from 18 inches.
I don't have something like that in my old family van.

The 5er also seems quite versatile, especially if you consider its somewhat discontinuous crossbar.

I'm trying to collect photos to show how fast the road is.

Update

It seems that the combination of "ContiSportContat 5" with other tires is actually the key.

Others who had no problems with four 5s suddenly started experiencing them after new Dunlops were fitted at the front.
