How can you even begin to figure out what the problem is based on such recordings? You need to provide data.
"Why don't you use your VCDS, connect it to the engine control unit, and create a meaningful set of measured values (keywords: throttle valve, fuel pressure, injection quantity, etc.), recording them both with and without any error codes."
And most importantly, check all the cables and connectors, and inspect the throttle valve.

Hi there,

According to the workshop, the problem is with the wastegate, and a repair kit will be installed next week.
I'll get back to you later.

Greetings!

HI.

Yes, the CAXA has issues with the wastegate, which is why the TPI (Turbo Performance Increase) and replacement parts were needed.
I've already done quite a bit of measuring and writing on that topic myself.

NO, this has absolutely nothing to do with the start-up process. Because during startup, the turbocharger is essentially just "sitting there." In fact, a "stuck-open wastegate" can even be beneficial because it allows the engine to expel its exhaust gases more effectively.
And the wastegate problem manifests itself through numerous error codes and malfunctions (e.g., loss of power).

In my opinion, that's a voodoo trick.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hello,

A wastegate causing starting problems? That's complete nonsense.

This forum is for knowledgeable people. It is not the purpose to discuss nonsense.

Okay?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,

Here's the explanation I received from the workshop: If the wastegate gets stuck in an unfavorable position when the engine is turned off, it can trigger this behavior during startup. I have no personal experience with this issue and haven't dealt with it much before.
Since it's a matter of warranty, they should replace it.

I have checked the accessible cable runs and connectors for damage or defects, and I did not observe any abnormalities.

I will create the data sets soon, but I won't be able to provide any input until at least the weekend. As I mentioned, it can only be reproduced within the company's test environment, and I won't have access to the vehicle there until Friday.
I've now borrowed a Windows 8 tablet that I can simply place in the side door without it being disruptive.

Best regards!

I used to think that too, when I was younger.

Wasting time and introducing new errors will be the result... I wouldn't even let such a workshop vacuum my floor mats, as they have proven to be either completely incompetent and/or greedy for money.

"... for the time being, my hands are essentially tied until the warranty and the extended guarantee offered by this company expire."
This will actually be the second repair attempt, as the starter relay was already replaced due to similar behavior (although it wasn't as pronounced in that case).

I hope to provide you with meaningful data in the coming days so that we can further investigate this matter.

Best regards,

I've noticed in your videos that you always release the "key" extremely early. Just keep it pressed down for a loooooooooong time - the MSTG will shut off the starter motor.

You also filmed with the door closed:
- The clicking of the key sounds like it's going to burst my eardrum.
- I can barely hear what the engine is doing.

In "Variant 2", I think I hear quite a few misfires.
That typical "plopping" sound of the cold TSI engine.
The CAXA counts per cylinder.
Possibly, a distinctive cylinder is included, and if there are "enough" errors, the test will be stopped.

The mileage is a good fit for the phrase "time to replace the spark plugs."
The bigger brother of the CAXA engine (the 160 hp CAVD) also had a lot of issues within the same family, with similar mileage around 60,000 km.
I can't remember right now whether it was the spark plugs or something else entirely, like a coil.

It looked like this:

Hello Dieselmartin,

Thank you for your feedback, and I will do better icon_smile.gif.

I release the key as soon as I feel the normal "engagement" and hear the engine start, or should start. It's hard to explain, but you can tell when the engine starts, and then you let go of the key; with option 2, it took longer, and I kept pressing until I heard that typical sound that indicates the car has already started, but the starter motor still wants to turn over. You really can't hear it clearly.Let's see if I can hold the microphone differently and open the door.

According to the service booklet, the spark plugs were already replaced at just under 51,000 km, so I would rule them out for now.
Shouldn't faulty ignition coils also directly generate an error in the system memory?
There's a misfire counter in measurement block 11 (or possibly another number).
So far, it has never shown anything other than 0.

Best regards!

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation.

I inquired.

The aforementioned TSI only needed new spark plugs. Nothing was actually broken.

Hello everyone,

I've been looking into the possible measurement values over the past few days.
The measurement data blocks were compared.
Given the large number and, above all, multiple occurrences of what appears to be...
To be honest, I'm now overwhelmed by having to compare the same measurements across different blocks.

What I can say is that the car experiences a relatively high number of misfires during the catalytic converter warm-up phase and for about 30 seconds afterward. In the first minute alone, 17 misfires were logged, distributed across all four cylinders.
After that, there were three more instances of the device failing during the remaining 8 kilometers of the journey.
on cylinders 3 and 4. I think this happened while idling at a traffic light. I also felt like the car was "jerking" slightly. This problem of difficulty starting did not occur during this log.

What metrics do you think I should prioritize first?
Is it possible to narrow down the problem?
Perhaps continue to correlate the misfires with the rail pressure and injection time?

Thank you and best regards!

Hi there,
What is the year of manufacture of the car?
Can you select measurement blocks with VCDS (i.e., always four different parameters together), or can you only access individual measurements from the "Advanced Measurements" menu (which can be saved as measurement blocks with up to 12 values)?
Could you please post a Screenshot of what you're observing?
Let's get a glimpse of your plans; so far, we're just looking into a crystal ball.

Hello Herbert,

The car was manufactured in October 2010.
I can display either three complete sets of measurement data, each containing a total of 12 values, or individual values in an expanded view.
I'll upload a log file later tonight.

Best regards!

Okay, here are the collected logs. The problem occurred during these logs.
Do not start it.

Today, the turbo repair kit was also installed. I also...
Checked if the software version of the engine control unit has been modified.
However, the situation remains unchanged.
