Okay.
So, after driving 1600 kilometers continuously and with no more error messages or "AdBlue check" warnings, it seems the NOx sensor was the problem.
I can't really use something like that when I'm abroad; it's annoying to have the electronics tell me not to start the engine because I'm 1050 km away from somewhere.
"I'll be looking around to see if any of the others are running out of AdBlue."
I'm planning to take advantage of Volkswagen's upcoming scrappage scheme soon, and then I might sell my Blue TDI.
Best regards.
Chris.

"Heating system control, short circuit to ground in the AdBlue tank - next error."
and here we go again, on our vacation trip...
but without any restrictions on distance.
I'm wondering if the issue is something that the TÜV (German technical inspection agency) would consider relevant. Besides the fact that my AdBlue freezes in the winter, causing an emissions error message to appear on the display and potentially blocking certain functions...
According to Google, a new AdBlue tank is needed.

If the heating system is actually broken, you'll have to replace the entire unit or do some serious improvising. As far as I know, the heating element (there are several) around the pump housing is shaped like a mat. It probably won't be available for purchase separately...

However, there are 12 heating pads available in various shapes and sizes. As long as you have a rough idea of the connection values and it doesn't need to be an original part, you can probably get away with spending a maximum of €50 plus a few hours of tinkering. (Assuming it's actually a heater and not just an output from a control unit or something similar.)
Greetings.
Sure.
Here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"Guste" means "gust" in English. It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust."

Thank you .
When I return via the Balkans route, I'll have to unscrew the container at the back.
It would likely only be possible with the use of ramps.
Hopefully, it's just the plastic cover on the right side and a few screws around the container, plus those two connectors, and that's all.
Today I really got down and dirty, checking the wiring all the way to the tank. I didn't find anything wrong until I noticed that the metal plates were chafing on the wires.
They didn't bend the metal panels correctly during the last repair. Fortunately, that's been taken care of now.
Since there are no restrictions on range, I can take my time over the next few weeks and deal with this, even if the temperatures drop below freezing.
It's a shame that my engine wasn't affected by the emissions scandal, only the Euro 5 engines like our new R-Line from 2014...
Otherwise, I would have charged Volkswagen for the last two repairs, including the extra costs and the inconvenience, and filed a counterclaim.
It seems like it's only diesel without AdBlue... let's wait and see.
But as I said, diesels can now only be tamed with AdBlue, so is that it after 15 years of driving diesel cars...?
Then we need something else that can handle being fully loaded and still travel 1400 km non-stop on a vacation trip.
Regards,
Chris.

Okay, here's an update.
I came to the service center because I didn't find anything wrong with the heating system.
...
The moral of the story:
New heater (repair kit), no new tank required.
New control unit.
700 euros...
Adblues are permanently off my list.
I'm going to sell it and get a B7 with Euro 5 as a replacement.
It's just not possible to have had 3 AdBlue repairs in the last 2 years.
Otherwise, he never had anything, absolutely nothing.
Oh well, the goodwill request was rejected again. Laugh.
Greetings!
Chris.

Thanks for the feedback! It's a shame that this doesn't reflect well on Volkswagen, especially considering mileage around 100,000 km.

That's really disappointing.
I also have a car with AdBlue. If it starts acting up outside of the warranty period (which is in mid-December), that's going to be a problem...

Well... no, not a stellar performance from Volkswagen...
I will always warn all my friends and acquaintances about vehicles that use AdBlue.
and advise against it.
And also let everyone know that once the warranty period is over, repairs can be done on a goodwill basis.
And whether to recommend a service from an independent provider or do it yourself, like I do.
Having had that experience myself, I know what I'm talking about.
Our other car is a 2014 R-Line 177 bhp Passat sedan.
He is affected by the emissions scandal.
An extended warranty for 5 years costs 2000 euros.
But the damage will only become apparent later, and goodwill gestures won't be offered anymore after the third year.
If the performance, torque, top speed, or fuel consumption are negatively affected, I will request a price reduction.
That's all there is to it, because he didn't want any AdBlue. And the replacement for my car will also be a Euro 5 Passat Variant without AdBlue, despite the scandal.
All manufacturers only cook with water.
Greetings!
Chris.

That leaves the option of going illegal. Disabling the SCR system. If my car wants to run for a bit longer... But that's just an idea.

Since I plan to sell it, I want to offer it with a complete service history and in top condition...
If someone chooses to keep a car until the very end, that's their decision and it's an option they have.
