Yesterday, we installed a Kenwood double-DIN radio in the T5-2 of a friend. The extra adapter from Quadlock to ISO connector, as is known, did not provide ignition power. I took the ignition power from the red-yellow cable under the heating control console. The radio now works when the ignition is on. With a button press on the device, it can also be turned on for 30 minutes without the ignition, after which it turns off automatically. I hope there is nothing to object to regarding the use of this rather thick cable.

I haven't installed the DAB+ disc antenna yet. For this, I requested a verschandeln glass, and perhaps there shouldn't be so much moisture in it.

Does anyone have a tip on how to get from the radio chess to the top of the A-column with minimal effort? Ideally, on the right side.

The previous test run also worked with the finger on the DAB antenna, at least when stationary.

Not specifically for the VW Bus, but on models like the Sharan, Passat, and Golf of similar years, the glove compartment was large and relatively easy to remove. Then remove the right A-pillar trim (screw behind the airbag clip, which may need to be replaced afterwards).

Utilize the original cable routing along the A-pillar and in the transition to the roof. On the A-pillar, the airbag curtain should be located, and it should be designed in such a way that it does not come into contact with any cables.

Greetings
Guste

If you remove the handle, you can remove the cover. A plastic spatula helps to disassemble everything without scratching.

I have spatulas in various shapes and thicknesses - made of wood. icon_wink.gif If you are referring to the handles on the A-column as a starting point, then this one does not have them.
I'll take another look at it later. Thank you all for your thoughts so far. icon_smile_thumb_up.gif

If possible, I would prefer to avoid a bonded inner antenna on the disc, for the following reasons:

1. Reception: Suboptimal
2. When replacing the windshield, a new antenna is required.

An external DAB antenna is the solution I would be looking for.
Viele Grüße
Andreas

Would it be my car - yes, definitely! The T5 otherwise has no visible antennas, and that must absolutely remain the case. Above all, nothing should be placed on the roof. Furthermore, DAB+ is excellently developed in our region. As a fallback option, there is still UKW reception for areas that are not covered. Something is always going wrong!

The film strips for the windshield cost me around €6 each. And the black box with the antenna amplifier and the cable to it can also be kept when replacing the windshield, if you remove it from the windshield yourself in the workshop before handing it in. I've already done this successfully twice. I have clear adhesive pads for re-sticking, or they are available on a roll at the local hardware store.

It's complete. Glove compartment out, side panel from the instrument panel, fake speaker grille (without speakers) and the A-pillar trim had to be removed. No losses, nothing is broken.

The actual speakers installed are terrible. No meaningful high frequencies can be generated, and only muddy bass is produced. If it were mine, it would need to be renewed.
