Okay, here's the first long-term test report. The story with the 50W Morimoto control units had already been further developed with matching 50W bulbs. All from the US. The invoice finally arrived after about 2 years in the form of a burned-out reflector. Strangely, only the right one.
I had recently contacted Retrofitlab and asked if they might sell the reflectors individually. They immediately sent me 2 on warranty. Completely on their own. I hadn't even thought about something like that and hadn't asked for it. I'm very pleasantly surprised that such business practices still exist. I wouldn't have had a problem buying two new projectors either. After all, I'm driving with 50W bulbs and fun costs money.
Anyway, everything is now new again. Now it's back to Osram CBB with Morimoto 50W ballasts, the bi-xenon setup, and I've also installed the very latest Philips H7 in the long-range headlights with a 200% increase.
Let's see how that looks in practice.
