How about getting a used cylinder head that fits your engine? There are plenty of them being sold cheaply right now.

Why should I buy a used head?

Brief update:
I called earlier because I wanted to finish the story. Unfortunately, it was without result so far. It's as described above, and it can't be definitively identified using the available catalogs.
We have opened a service ticket with VW regarding this issue, and we need to wait for a response. I'm sorry that I don't have anything better for you at the moment. I will contact you as soon as new information becomes available.

Okay, this whole thing is pretty weird.
But thank you for your help so far.

It might be more cost-effective to buy a suitable head for small amounts of money rather than investing a large three-digit sum in PD elements.

I always compare the vehicle's value with the cost of repairs, and for a car that's worth 1000 euros plus some amount, I wouldn't invest a significant amount of money in performance-enhancing modifications if there are other options available; that's just my way of thinking.

And that's why, over the past >30 years, I've almost always driven safely and responsibly.

I don't quite understand how a new head would help me with my problem.

I think he means a used head with PD elements inside icon_wink.gif.

That's exactly what I meant. It's not that expensive, it's a complete solution, so go for it and be done with it.

As long as I don't know which specific injector elements are installed in the engine, it's not going to be useful to me. Then I'll buy a cylinder head, and it will probably have the wrong PD injectors in it again.
Then I have to start all over again.
