Okay, I don't really like those activated carbon products either, because they become relatively ineffective quite quickly. And for me, it's purely a matter of calculation.

I pay approximately €19 for the activated carbon filter when I purchase it, and €6 for the paper filter.

"And since I generally replace the engine air filter and cabin air filter every 15,000 km at the service because those parts are cheap anyway and you simply get better air quality inside the car, I can't justify spending more than three times that amount..."

In my opinion, a good paper air filter from brands like MAHLE or BOSCH is also sufficient, as the activated carbon effect – at least in my experience – always wears off after 5 months.
