@bertil

Okay, so it seems I made a mistake in my approach, but thankfully, it worked out well! Now I just need to connect the GRA, but I'm not so sure about that, icon_smile.gif. Especially, I don't know why VW specifies 0.75mm² cables; in my opinion, 0.5mm² is perfectly sufficient! But never mind, I still need to find my nail problem first icon_sad.gif.

Sorry for the misinformation.

@ Gremlin

You wouldn't be the first person for whom the charge air hose comes loose during the first maneuver after a workshop visit.

It can't happen to me, I don't have an intercooler hose -> I drive an SDI. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm not really a fan of workshops either, but there are certain things I prefer to have done by professionals.
It doesn't really matter.

If you're considering the current, 0.5mm is probably sufficient.

However, there may be other reasons as well.

- mechanical strength
- Poor contact in the pins.
- insufficient sealing at/in the 'small rubber pieces on/in the connector.'

Hello,

Okay, VAG-COM says that my steering wheel angle is 0° when the wheels are pointing straight ahead.

According to that, my plastic part (the return plate) is installed correctly.

Can anyone confirm this?

Best regards,
CH

hello,
I, however, am of the opinion that...
that the steering angle sensor is not located in the reset ring, but rather on the steering shaft.
so that the steering angle has nothing to do with the return spring.
greetings

I also have that suspicion.

As far as I could tell, while some CAN bus lines ran to the reset ring, I suspected they were just preparations for a Master Flash Loader (MFL).

The steering angle sensor must have at least one controller with bus connectivity. I don't believe something like that can be housed in a plastic ring.

Best regards,
CH

Hello,

The steering angle sensor must have at least one controller with bus connection. I don't believe that something like that can be housed in a plastic ring.

That has now changed.

I removed the steering wheel again, connected VAG-COM, and found the following:

In the center of the ring.

VAG-COM displayed a steering angle of 0.0°.

When turning the ring to the right.

http://mitglied.lycos.de/chrhelm/33gradab480.jpg

Then the steering angle was -33.0 degrees.

Have you completely lost it?

http://mitglied.lycos.de/chrhelm/0360gradab480.jpg

You are at a steering angle of -360.0 degrees.

I was able to determine the correct position of the ring icon_cool.gif.

But BE CAREFUL when REPLICATING:

- Probably only works with cars equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Program).

- An airbag fault is stored because the ignition was on without the airbag system being active. If an airbag control unit is not compatible with VAG-COM, the user will then have the problem that they cannot clear the fault, and they will be reminded of it with every trip.
