However, even three-phase generators only operate with efficiencies of 65-75%, meaning that practically one-third of the energy is converted into heat within the generator. This heat, however, remains unused and warms the airflow for those behind .

Yep, that's the gap in my reasoning.
However, a portion of the generator's waste heat actually passes over the engine block beforehand and creeps through the metal into the engine, thereby re-heating the engine (not entirely serious + therefore not worth further comment ).
