If you're lucky, there's a cable set for your car, but so far, when I've upgraded with GRA, I've had to lay the cables myself in 95 percent of cases.
Once, it even happened that the plug for the switch was already attached to the steering column, but this only happened 20 or 30 times.
In most cases, you only need to connect up to a connector behind the relay panel, and in some cases, even to the engine control unit.
Send me the MKB and model year, then I will send you the electrical diagram.

Passat 35i, manufactured in 1996, Engine Code: 1Z. Regarding the cable that was already installed: Could it be that the vehicle was a Sharan?
Best regards, WarLord

Hello, I think it was a Passat, but it's quite an old car.
Tomorrow I will send you the electrical diagram.

@Warlord
Right! This is in case you only get the switch. For your 35i, it should be exactly like mine (35i GT Variant, 1Z, ez 02/96), meaning you will find a flat, black connector with 4 pins, behind your fuse box. As a schematic, I remember having taken the one from Dirk for the Golf 3.
Greetings,
Dominique

Hello,
The shift levers from the Golf 2 (from 1989), Passat 35i B3 and Passat 35i B4, and Golf III are compatible with each other.
A G3 lever also fits in a Golf II with a new ZE.
I have a Passat, model year 1993, and I have the controls from a Golf III installed inside.

Okay, please provide the German text you want me to translate. I will translate it accurately, keeping all s exactly as they are, and only provide the English translation.
but if you only swap one, it looks "awful".
The Golf 8/87-7/89 gear lever looks like the one from 89, but electrically it's the one from before 87 (the old ZE) !!!
(I had done the swap in my 4/87 G2)
