I also bought an AFN in a blue G3 estate from a private seller. It was September 2002, and it cost 5700 euros. It had 165,000 km on the clock, was manufactured in 1997, and had a service history. The car looked like this at the time:
http://www.teddie.de/Golf_3_1.jpg
'...where, instead of the aluminum rims shown in the picture, I only received 14-inch aluminum rims from VW.'

Regarding the costs:
Taxes for 2005: 324 euros.
Vehicle insurance (calculated at 100%).
For the year 2005, I'm only paying for liability insurance, which costs 725 euros.
In 2004, I had comprehensive insurance with a slightly more expensive provider, which cost 1455.30 euros.

I drive approximately 21,000 kilometers per year, and in the first half of 2004 (with a calm driving style), the car consumed exactly 5.052 liters per 100 kilometers.

Besides the initial purchase, I have spent a total of 2443.55 on other repairs and maintenance for the car. This includes, but is not limited to: new winter tires, new summer tires, timing belt replacement, 2 ABS sensors, control arms, 4 springs, 2 shock absorbers, exhaust system repairs, TÜV/ASU inspection, and a 90,000 km service. The total wage was approximately 1000 euros, but I didn't record it separately, so that's just an estimate.

Hope you can use some of this information.

GOIL - especially the price!

But the paint looks so "unoriginal"!

Was this blue color actually present on the G3?

It looks similar to the techno-blue color from the G4 Generation or the ravenna-Balu finish on a Bora.
The "Diving-blue" color on a Touran looks like that too.

But all of these colors are younger than the G3 variant!

What color code is that? icon_arrow.gif Sticker in the service booklet.

Thank you.

Yes, the color is already quite rare for a G3 Lim, and I have never seen a G3 Vari in that color (I don't want to swear, I just don't remember icon_sad.gif).

Otherwise, great color, I would also like to have that. icon_smile.gif

But 324 euros in taxes for AFN?

I am already paying an increased amount of €304 for my AHU icon_mad.gif in 2005.

They are both E2 norms, or icon_question.gif

No, not E2, but Euro-2.

That's a difference!

Well, it's E2 icon_smile.gif.

The Golf2 diesel engine is classified as "low-emission E2," which is equivalent to EURO 1 standards.

And the first generation Golf 3 TDI models were also only Euro 1 compliant.

Therefore, my comment.

Yes, of course.
The problem related to E2 can be broken down into even more specific details.

The speech was about AFN and AHU, and there can hardly be any connection to Euro-1 or anything similar. icon_wink.gif

I very rarely abbreviate words, and I place great importance on avoiding it. Here, I was lazy and wrote 'E2' instead of 'Euro-2' (which should be obvious to everyone), and you're already attacking me heavily!

Since you... Z. (oops, I guess I have to type 'zur Zeit') suffering from low utilization, I will send you some data for analysis via private message (PM) shortly. icon_lol.gif

I've seen that shade of color on a Golf III quite a few times. Wasn't he also involved with 'Color Concept'?
Sometimes you wonder what color options were available for VW cars 'back then.' I still find the 'piggy-pink' color on the 3rd generation Golf icon_eek.gif to be the worst.

@georg TDI: You are right, I will be paying 304 euros per year from now on. 20 euros had been debited for another reason, and I only checked in the accounting software.

@everyone: I think the issue with the color is somehow related to the lighting. Here's the same car again, and it looks noticeably darker this time.

http://www.teddie.de/aa-014.jpg

I think the color is called 'jazz blue,' but I'm not entirely sure.

Hello,

Congratulations on your new car, from me as well. But do you really think these prices are cheap?
I paid 12,500 German Marks for my first Passat Variant AFN at the end of the year 2000, and it had 94,000 kilometers on the odometer.
And the Passat 35i has significantly more space than the Golf.

Best regards,
Albrecht.

Well, you don't just buy cars based on space; otherwise, I probably would have gotten a 7.5-ton truck. Your price sounds quite reasonable, but it's not much of a comparison (comparing apples and oranges). The Passat would be too big for me, and 6.5 liters of fuel consumption is more than my current 5.0. Furthermore, the AFN engine is quite generously sized for a G3 in terms of power; it would be too small in a Passat. Everyone has their own preferences, but when comparing the purchase prices of cars, it's best to stick to the same model.

jazz-blue can be.

They were also available on the G4 - but unfortunately, they're no match for the blue-toned ones I mentioned (in my opinion).

@hvx

Hmm, I wouldn't say the 1Z engine was underpowered, even for the Passat 35i.

Best regards, WarLord.
