Hello!

I own a VW T3 with a 1z TDI engine (from a 1994 Passat) and a Mercedes E 220 CDI from 2002.

Both engines are now equipped with a large number of electronic components, which are prone to causing many errors.

Is there a diagnostic kit that covers both models? (Especially in terms of software?!)

I've already browsed the shop a bit, but I've only found vague information about compatibility with Mercedes models.

Can anyone give me a tip?

I wanted to spend a maximum of 500 euros for the entire package!

Regards,
Thorben.

Hello Torben,

"The 1Z issue can be addressed using VAG-COM and one of the semi-professional diagnostic systems. For Mercedes vehicles, there's a chance it can be resolved via OBD2 using the ISO protocol, which at least allows access to the engine control unit."
Other solutions for the Benz are in a completely different price range; you could easily add a zero to the price.
Specifically for Mercedes and BMW, we offer the following:

We offer, across various manufacturers, OBD2 solutions via CAN.

Best regards, Rainer.

A single zero probably won't be enough, but it also depends on what you specifically want to do with it. For example, the coverage of functions offered by most third-party providers is never identical or similar to that of the original device (MB Stardiagnosis). Usually, all-around devices like Gutmann or Bosch are sufficient for most everyday workshop tasks, but as I said, there's a limit, and eventually, only the original device can go further. As for VAG-COM, I would consider it a commendable exception, because in terms of functionality, it comes close to an original device and is certainly not suitable for comparisons with other brands.
