Hi,

Regarding the subwoofer: I highly recommend running at least a 4mm² cable, preferably a 6mm² cable, directly to the battery. Your subwoofer draws a significant amount of power when playing deep bass notes. With the standard 1.5mm² cables leading to the 12V socket, you'll lose more power in the wiring than your woofer converts into bass.
Don't forget to connect the safety device directly to the battery!

HELP! Bring the wooden wrench to the workshop. The story is too good. Just between us, I know a lot of Golfs. They all have the connection for the socket located in the trunk on the right side (passenger side). You just need to plug it into the socket. Please write down the details of this incident, including names, times, and other relevant facts.
I'm not even going to talk about the terrible customer service anymore. It makes sense that German cars consistently rank high in breakdown statistics, but probably only after the first visit to the workshop.

Hi,

'Exactly where is the connector located? (Please provide a precise description.) I have a Golf IV Variant, model year 2005. If the connection is actually there, I will personally drive from Stuttgart to Wolfsburg and be ready to get fired for three people!'
I'll probably go to the workshop sometime, hand my multimeter to the mechanic, and ask: 'Could you check if everything is okay with this outlet?'

In the sedan, the connector in question is hanging loose on the right side at the back, behind the removable cover. It's likely to be in a similar location in the station wagon. It will be located where the socket itself is installed.

"For the combination instrument cluster, at least up to models manufactured in 2004 (the latest I'm familiar with), it's exactly the same. Take a look behind the trim; the part is white (translucent to milky) and shaped like a 'T'."

funny funny...

Luckily, the Octavia Combi already had the power outlet as standard equipment back in 2002. icon_wink.gif

The Klingons aren't very good with electricity; they fried a colleague while he was installing a hands-free device, resulting in one ruined radio and two broken hands-free sets. I call that quality work...

Regarding the subwoofer: Under no circumstances should it be connected to a standard wall outlet, as the internal resistance is far too high. This connection is only suitable for a quick functionality test.

Otherwise, connect the positive and negative terminals separately, and run the power supply from all devices to a central point, including the ground connection. Otherwise, you may end up with ground loops.

'Hey bee, do you happen to have any ridiculously expensive cigar lighter adapters that are already broken? I'll just put the cost on the workshop bill. As previously mentioned, not only is the wiring standardized, but it has been standardized for a very long time...'

It doesn't always mean something. Once, while I was a passenger in a seemingly ordinary Opel Kadett, someone destroyed a phone charger that looked like it came standard with the car.

You yourself are writing that it looked standard out of the box, icon_smile.gif.

I think you can't really go wrong with a kit, because the wiring harness and components arrive pre-configured and ready to use.

and at least the wiring harness is 100% functionally tested before it goes into production; the supplier cannot afford the risk of a defect.
