Here's a comparison of the Golf 5 and Polo Rute.
The perspective is a bit strange, but my arm wasn't long enough and the phone wasn't wide enough.

Yes, it's good for comparison! However, the rubber sausage on the antenna foot doesn't look nearly as delicate and discreet as my replacement antenna. My preference is not for that; I find my own solution to be infinitely better.
Is the wristwatch also part of the VW program? Awesome!!

The thick stick is supposed to be aimed at the shark's foot, but it looks different now.
But after MFL, steering column STG, and some design:

I am hesitant to spend more money unnecessarily.
The watch is a "Timex Triathlon 100 Lap" from the mid-90s, and it just had a fresh battery installed. The old 2016, which was originally part of a Leon FFB, was now almost empty.

I eagerly await a picture of the shark with the rubber sausage...

Just a moment ago, I had an idea:
I'm taking an M5 threaded rod.
Cut it at about 1cm. This is a critical point, ensuring that the shark will definitely survive.
I'll "disguise" it from the top and paint it matte black.
Then I have a homemade stubby, like the Sharan, and I can test the radio reception.
And the main reason for looking for an alternative, the constant demotivation for the car wash, disappears.
Because the polo sausage is also affected when driving into the facility.

I still have a black anodized aluminum antenna with a 5mm thread lying around. Length is approximately 9 cm. Reception within the Berlin city area and surrounding areas is acceptable, but not so much for long-distance travel. Visually, it fits perfectly onto our antenna bases due to its conical shape, and it shouldn't be a problem in the car wash either.
My parts supplier has them (although without fancy packaging) for 6 EUR on the shelf. Importantly, as mentioned before, the galvanization is important, which, depending on the quality of its execution, provides protection against corrosion. Is this an option for you?

I've also tested:
MWB 008 - Signal strength of the current transmitter.
with org 40 cm rod: 64
Without everything: 35 (sender still audible)
with a roughly 7cm threaded rod: 50
I think I'll try using the threaded rod for a test run.

Warning! The included, interchangeable threaded studs for mounting on various antenna bases are usually made of non-stainless steel. Furthermore, there is a lack of sealing between the aluminum material (?) and the antenna base, for example, through a rubber ring.
As a result, this screw reacts with the antenna base and rusts firmly. Eventually, you won't be able to take it apart anymore.

What is the price of the Polo sausage, and how is the antenna reception compared to a "normal" antenna?

Polo sausage costs between 16 and 20 EUR.
Reception? I need to buy them first - but I won't do that anymore.
Because she also needs to be removed in the car wash.

Hello,
In a US 3BG Variant 2003 with original FSE from the factory and a Blaupunkt Casablanca, the antenna base is broken because I didn't remove the rod in the car wash. The antenna with a long rod is for radio and GSM. Now I can either remove everything completely.
Question: Does anyone have a guide for removing a sunroof?
Or can I use the ACV Shark Triplex antenna offered by caraudio24?
Is the reception still good?
Does anyone know the diameter of the hole in the roof? In the aforementioned shop, the Radio/GSM antenna with a long rod has the specification of 14 mm for the roof hole, while the ACV Shark Triplex has a specification of 19 mm. So, I would have to really abuse the galvanized roof, right?
Thank you, haithamina.

In a 4-door Golf Variant without sunshades and side airbags, it's enough (as far as I remember) to clip off the roof trim and gently push the headliner down.
He should, however, avoid breaking it.
It can be securely fixed by pressing down with two car wash sponges.
I imagine that it won't be that different at the 3BG.
The hole in the metal is square, as far as I know, 15 x 15 mm.
