"Understanding question:"

The phone adapter that is mounted on the "ear" is only there to store and charge the corresponding device, right?

According to that, the FSE should also work without this adapter, right?

As far as I know: No.

The phone-specific charging cradle either has built-in Bluetooth (or activates the Bluetooth function of the unit under the seat with a button press), or it connects via the contacts on the phone.
"If there isn't a device with a Bluetooth symbol plugged in, a connection won't be established. It only requires some kind of charging dock (it doesn't matter which one) that has a Bluetooth symbol. However, this is just information I've read (I have the Touch). I haven't actually tried it myself."

If needed: I might have another one lying around. I think it's a Sony W800i or something like that. If you're interested: €15 including shipping.
I wanted to use the back part to screw on a phone-specific mount for my SGS2. However, I never started doing that, and now I have a different phone... http://www.motor-talk.de/blogs/blaulichtwilli/vw-handyadapter-als-ladeschale-fuer-samsung-galaxy-s2-t3846509.html

Greetings.
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust."

Hi Guste,

Thank you for your offer!
The problem is that I already have the original VW charging cradle installed (for the iPhone 5). It worked with that one (or, more precisely, with only ONE) iPhone.

It is not possible to register any more devices.
Unfortunately, it also fails to reset, as VCDS frequently crashes during the process.

Best regards,
Volker.

Ups. Ich hatte nicht den kompletten Beitrag gelesen. Sorry.

Actually, it should also be possible to pair a new phone without using VCDS. Have you already tried the standard procedure?

If I've understood everything correctly, you have the standard FSE (not the premium version). Then you should have those two buttons on the charging cradle (wrench and info). Or is it different in the 2007 T5 compared to the Passat from 2008?

As far as I recall, the visibility is activated by pressing both buttons for a long time. Possibly in conjunction with turning the ignition on and off. However, from your previous posts, I can't tell if you have even tried this -original- method, or if you are only trying to do it through VCDS.

Hi, that sounds like a valuable tip!

It's actually the charging cradle that you described!
As far as I remember, the original instructions don't mention anything about that trick with the two buttons!

But I'm going to try it out right away!
Sure, here's the translation:

"Thank you in advance!"

Best regards,

Hi Guste!

Thanks to your tip, I can consider this issue resolved!

I didn't have to press the two buttons at the same time, but I had to press them in quick succession (first the wrench button, then the phone handset button) for the Bluetooth module on the phone to become visible.

Then, only the code (the four "0"s) needs to be confirmed, and the new phone will be paired.

By the way, I'd like to add a little extra information here:

Although I have a charging cradle for the iPhone 5 installed in my car, the hands-free system now works with both an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 6 Plus.

Thank you all again!

Have a great weekend!
