Dear Basti,
I think your approaches are good. Despite the ISO 9002 certification, this mishap somehow happened. Unfortunately, our quality management manual doesn't specify what employees should not say to customers. Actually, it shouldn't be necessary because that 'performance' that was posted is obviously something that any reasonable person would consider inappropriate.
So, even the existing and functioning quality management system failed in this case.
Now, back to your approaches: at peak times, there were as many as 14 employees who had to adhere to both the ISO standards and their own common sense.
Customers were also called.
You are warmly invited to help me optimize my 'kindergarten'!
Are you a business consultant or self-employed?
I'm eagerly awaiting your advice!
Greetings from Koblenz.

Hello Frank,
I hope I can call you that.
Invitation gladly accepted; I always appreciate new challenges!
"I am a student by profession," and "I work as a freelancer on the side."
I didn't know about the ISO certification, sorry, but I just read about it while browsing your website!
"But I actually see the problem with this kind of thing. It's often forced to conform to ISO standards, but if a team within a company acts as an intermediary between the customer and the company, and if they adapt their approach to match the customer's needs and anticipate their questions before they even ask them, then you don't really need those standards in the first place."
In short, the customer realizes that they have a competent and appreciative partner here who will help them with their request or problem.
A major problem when dealing with customers is that not everyone is treated equally. It's understandable that a mechanic might be more motivated to extract extra power from an RS6 than from a Golf3 with only 90 horsepower, and in such cases, the employee's personal preferences often come into play.
(When comparing an RS6 to a Polo, you're essentially looking at completely different ends of the automotive spectrum.)
Despite this, customers should not be made aware of it in any way. For them, it's a very objective look at the company; they are unaware of any background information and don't need to be. Their car should feel just as valuable as the RS model parked next to it.
However, if a customer notices that the technician working on their Golf seems bored and would rather be working on the RS6 being tuned by another technician, and that the customer is just seen as a number, meaning the technician works strictly according to specifications without engaging with the customer, answering questions, or explaining things in a way that's understandable (since not everyone knows what a "CS" is, for example), then the customer gets the feeling that they are not being properly taken care of with their "problem."
Personally, I try to build a certain level of rapport with clients, aiming for a relationship that goes beyond just addressing their specific issue.
See you later, Basti. Cu Basti

Hello Basti,
It's nice to read a post from you for once that doesn't have such a negative tone.
I completely agree with you.
Do you know what I found so unfortunate?
It's unfair that because one customer had a negative experience with our staff, it was immediately and negatively assessed and argued against from your side. We have approximately 300 customers who visit us in person each year. Of course, we don't discuss the positive experiences much, even if some people have reported them.
I'm saying that your conclusions about the quality of the company might be possible, but they don't necessarily have to be representative.
Greetings from sunny Koblenz!

You've brought the discussion on this topic back to life. I find it amazing that you did that, and I also think it's very good that you remain objective and calm. However, not every customer who is with you or has been with you leaves with a positive impression, just like the initiator of this thread. And if you engage in discussions, it's quite possible that you will hear unpleasant things. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case here. But that is absolutely no reason to react in a whiny or annoyed way! Perhaps this experience can give you a different perspective on the issues.
I, for my part, admire your courage and the way you discuss things objectively. Keep it up. Maybe we'll see more of your contributions in other threads as well. That would be great. Your technical expertise is probably hard to surpass. Uwe from Rosstech is also a member here and occasionally posts something. Perhaps this would help you present yourself in a different light to the naysayers (like me, ). This would benefit everyone here, and you would have partially made up for some of the negative comments you've received.

I have no problem discussing experiences; I stand by that. I simply objected to generalizations and objectively exaggerated comments. Thomas's comment, which had to be deleted, was factual. I didn't find his comment negative in the sense of 'mean,' but rather constructive. However, there were other malicious reactions to it.
The reason I'm writing now, even though it's late, is because I only just learned about this and still wanted to express my opinion.
At my place, I offer support to both customers and non-customers. For example, just last week, I made an adjustment (free of charge) for a customer with a Volvo 850 TDI! The good Audi technology (R5 2.5 TDI) gave up the ghost at 480,000 km. Despite the unchanged chip, the new engine was producing excessive soot.
And that's what I wanted to offer to Thomas as well. That was all there was to it.
Then we've clarified that now.
I often enjoy browsing your forum, but it can be quite time-consuming.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me directly, and I will definitely get back to you as soon as possible.
Greetings from Koblenz.

Okay, I'm going to put on my jacket now. As I mentioned before, the questions I asked were not intended to be malicious or anything like that. If they came across that way, I apologize. But life isn't just about peace, joy, and happiness. And sometimes, after certain things happen, you have to expect some kind of backlash. Okay? That's enough for now!
'Certainly, participating in this forum is time-consuming. However, it's also worthwhile to read and contribute here. The learning experience has been enormous for me personally, and frankly, invaluable. I'm happy to share my experiences and problems publicly, so that everyone can benefit from them, or simply laugh at me because one can't see the forest for the trees. Perhaps you could write a technical article on this or that specific topic! As I said, we would all benefit from it.'
Once again, huge praise to you!!!

24-03-2004, 1:35 Subject: B&B Special Turbochargers? |
Quote |
|
Here's a small question that is roughly related to the topic:
The following post, which seems rather unbelievable, is currently circulating in various online forums (I just stumbled upon it).
I'm not surprised that the car doesn't have 200 horsepower (B&B doesn't claim it has 200 hp either).
I find it a bit strange that the installed loader is supposedly the standard part. Does anyone happen to know anything more specific about this? What exactly does a "B&B Special Loader" entail?
Best regards, Olaf.
Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation.
Hello everyone...
I also registered today because I'm interested in TDI tuning.
I had my Audi A4 TDI with 130 horsepower modified by B&B Automobiltechnik. Stage 2 was supposed to increase the power to 200 horsepower.
Unfortunately, his performance was not convincing.
Level 2 was a complete engine kit:
-B+B optimized turbocharger.
-Optimized Large Language Model.
-modified exhaust manifold
- Engine control unit (ECU) adaptation.
- increase in boost pressure
- B+B sports exhaust system.
Result: 200 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque.
However, I wasn't entirely convinced about those 200 horsepower figures, so I took it to a dynamometer for testing.
Power output: 168.15 hp (horsepower) and 373.8 Nm (Newton-meters) of torque.
That's a bad joke, right?
The cost of the tuning is €4698.
On December 2nd, I brought the car to B+B.
Now it has 183 horsepower. Now they don't want to know anything about it. It is highly likely that this will now have to be resolved legally.
A certified expert has determined the following:
- B+B optimized turbocharger is standard equipment.
-Optimized low-latency kernel is standard.
-Modified exhaust manifold is standard equipment.
- B+B exhaust systems only refer to the rear silencers.
So, it was only a control unit optimization that was performed. Perhaps something was adjusted on the turbocharger, but we can't really call this proper tuning.
Okay... Just stay away from B&B Automotive Technology.

Hi Olaf,
Quote: | An expert has determined the following:
- B+B optimized turbocharger is standard equipment.
-Optimized liquid cooling is standard.
-Modified exhaust manifold is standard equipment.
|
Apart from the liquid coolant, did the expert dismantle (or have dismantled) the loader? Otherwise, it would be impossible for him to determine the type of turbocharger or whether anything has been modified.
Behind the B&B supercharger, there is most likely an ARL turbocharger.
They may have had the compressor housing coated or the manifold milled. In any case, their choice of words is a bit exaggerated.
(However, for engines producing 200 hp / 190 hp, a GT20 wouldn't be entirely unsuitable either.)
Besides, I also find the price a bit excessive for what is being offered.
I just looked at their website for the first time.
What a load of utter nonsense!
Greetings.
Thomas. -----------------------------------------------------

I don't know what the expert did... I don't know anything about this specific story (it was just forwarded to me, so I don't even know its exact origin). The people at Lupoclub.de are meeting with B&B soon, and hopefully they will bring up this case then. However, many of them unfortunately don't have the knowledge, especially in the Diesel area, to really get those people to talk.
I only have somewhat reliable information about other issues with B&B products, mainly concerning turbocharger conversions on gasoline engines, but that's not the topic here.
It's a shame that you often have to invest your own money before you really know what you're dealing with.
Unfortunately, you can't always judge the quality of work based on the price or sales figures of a tuning shop. It's frustrating when a certain "premium" expectation is created by the price, but that level of quality isn't actually delivered.
I think that B&B is also causing a lot of trouble with the audience they are trying to reach.
Many people end up in that category who say, "I'd rather spend a little more so that it works properly without any problems..." They tend to get particularly annoyed when things go wrong with even the smallest details.
Regards,
Olaf.

'Then I expressed myself poorly; we don't have a certification report for modified nozzles. It would be possible to get one done, but the question is how many we would sell. It's purely a business decision. A certification report costs approximately €3500. And that cost is then divided by the number of kits sold, which determines the cost per vehicle... If there are enough interested parties here, I'd be happy to do it.'
