Hi everyone,

Please don't get angry, I've been trying to use the search function for the past half hour to find something, but unfortunately, I haven't had any luck.

Currently, I'm having a problem with the hood of my Audi 80 B4 TDI, manufactured in May 1993. The hood won't open, and the reason is that the lever used to release the hood moves freely without any resistance and without having any effect.

My question now is, how can I best open it?

Please help urgently!!!!

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Michael icon_biggrin.gif

I've experienced that before too; I realized then that it was already unlocked.

It's no joke, just put in the effort and get started.

Hi,

I recently experienced this with a customer's vehicle, and you just stand there like an idiot icon_redface.gif.
I was also a bit too "careful," but after a little gentle shaking and simultaneous movement of the latch, it suddenly came loose.

Best regards, Rainer.

Most likely, the rope has broken. If you're lucky, you might be able to get it down from underneath (by lowering the underbody protection), which might be possible with a B4 TDI. Otherwise, the grill will probably have to be sacrificed.

I just took my grill out, and the rope was already sticking out.
I hope someone among you can tell me now what other options I might have, for example, from below. Where do I need to pull?

Best regards, Michael.

Have you ever tried looking underneath the car to see if you can access the hood mechanism? Sometimes there's enough space there.

The hood is open again... you can actually get to the mechanism quite easily from below.

Thank you again for your help.

Best regards,

Michael.
