I read the following text in another forum:

This involves modifying the engine data in the engine control unit using the VAG tester VAS 5051. This can only be done at a trusted car dealership. 1. Have the error code read
2. If there are any errors in the system, have them cleared.

The tuning described here could also be done directly by the manufacturer. VW has set the value in the middle, and here it is only slightly increased. There are no impairments except that it will "rumble" a little more. According to VW - service technicians, there is no risk. So far, I have not experienced any damage or losses.
4. Now, here is the diagram for the tuning:

It is very important to save the old values beforehand for possible resetting of the process.

Now it's time. Your TDI has a little more power.
The effect: Slightly more torque and better pulling power. In the TDI automatic with an additional box, the torque and corresponding power remain the same. Those who have done this are very enthusiastic.

Could someone please translate this into plain language? Specifically, what is being modified? Tolerance range for fuel pressure? Injection quantity?

I have no idea what is being done.

Hello Jens,

use please the search function with the keyword 'Adaption'.
This is not magic, and you can also save on the box, as it is pointless.
However, in my experience, the changes only result in very modest power/torque increase.
If I remember correctly, the range for fuel injection quantity on my AHF is between 1.6 and 3.2 mg/cycle. The maximum amount should be 51mg/cycle.
Therefore, the power increase would be 0.8 / 51 or 1.57%.
This would mean that the engine, with its standard 110 hp, would have a smooth 111.7 hp:lol:
By the way, changing channel 2 only changes the idle speed, which is a bit of a hassle.

I found a company online that offers this service...tuning via diagnostic interface...

I think there's probably a bit more to it than just 1.57% more performance :)

But I don't know exactly what they do...unfortunately...

Oh, and I've also tried using the search function to find out...but I don't know what values to set...and I don't want to experiment.

I just visited the Chip 4 power page!
So, I find them quite credible.
They're completely crazy! They're asking 599 Euros for tuning via the diagnostic interface!!! I think you can adjust the performance somewhat via adaptation, but no one knows exactly which settings are good and which aren't, because everything is handled very roughly!!

Also, why shouldn't it be possible for a PD (presumably a car dealer)?
