This afternoon, when I was driving home from work, my battery probably gave up. It's completely dead! I checked the individual cells, and one is completely ruined, while the others aren't doing so well either.
I guess I'll have to get a new one now!
Hab im moment in meinem 3er Vari TDI ne Batterie mit 72Ah drin und mich würd jetzt interessieren ob ich da ne 'größere' reinbauen kann oder soll. Hab nämlich zwei Endstufen im Auto. Deshalf my question:
What kind of battery should I get, or what do you have?
The battery currently has a voltage of 12V, a capacity of 72Ah, and a discharge current of 380A.
What does a battery typically cost?
Hi,
Lead-acid batteries last the longest when they are always kept fully charged.
First, check the maximum amperage that the alternator can provide. Then, based on your individual driving habits, decide whether a standard battery or one with a higher capacity is more worthwhile.
"I had a 100Ah battery in my Passat 35i TDI (because of the auxiliary heater), and it was always fully charged with the 120A alternator. I assume your Variant also has a 120A alternator, or did they cut costs on that for you?"
best regards
Hannes.

Mine also said goodbye at the beginning of this year.
I then purchased an Optima Blue Top battery.
It has 12V, 61Ah, and 900A specifications.
It normally costs 250 Euros. This is a "Hi-Fi battery," I'm not sure what that means, but it's good to have one .
No, seriously, I'm completely satisfied with it.
Greetings,
Thomas.
