Engine Running Rough: Troubleshooting Guide

I have the following problem.
"I've owned a G4 ASV for 1 1/2 years. It came with a chip installed, increasing the power to 140 hp. I recently drove a different Golf with an ASV engine, as well as a Bora with a 90 hp engine. They both had a much smoother engine sound compared to mine. My G4 has a very harsh combustion noise. Could this be "just" due to the chip, or could it also be due to worn injectors? I bought it with 119,000 km, and it now has 169,000 km. So far, there have been no problems."

Hi Bolzer,

It can be either. If the wrong identification data was read from the chip, anything is possible .
It could also be something else, such as a gap in the splash guard seal, worn engine mounts, or something similar.
You can't determine something like that with a remote diagnosis.
