Headlight leveling error code 01538

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my headlights. As soon as I turn on the ignition, they move down and then up, which wasn't happening before.
I installed xenon headlights, and the control unit is displaying error code 01538.
If I delete the error, it reappears immediately.
Can someone tell me what the error is here?
The engines are still working perfectly.

There are different systems... some start by going up and down, while others don't.

The error code indicates a problem with one of the motors responsible for closing the LWR (Low Voltage Release).

With a little luck, a new default setting might also help... (but I think there are probably separate error codes for that...)

So, mine usually don't go up and down.
I've already reset the basic settings.

Oh yes, it's also showing '16 00 - Signal out of tolerance'.

(This will also indicate whether it's a VW-specific error code or a generic P-code.)

16:00 - Signal out of tolerance.

I'm experiencing the same error. How did you fix it? Sorry for reviving this old thread; I just didn't want to start a new thread with the same title.

The car is a Golf 5 2.0 TFSI GTI.
