Hello,

A question for the climate specialists?
Wenn der Klimakompressor durch einen neuen ersetzt wird , sollte dann der Kompressor mit Kompressor-Öl befüllt werden ? WIf yes, how much?
It's a Volkswagen Golf IV with a Sanden supercharger (model SD7V16, part number 1J0820803k).

Thank you.

This is how it should be done:

• Replace the compressor.
=> Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a [to be filled].

"After installation, manually rotate the compressor approximately 10 revolutions before the first start-up."
* When starting the compressor for the first time:
- Start the motor with the compressor turned off (operating mode "OFF").
- Wait until the idle speed has stabilized.
- Only then turn on the compressor and let it run idle for at least 10 minutes.
* Install and remove the serpentine belt.

With how much oil should the compressor be filled?

Hello!
The oil fill amount for the compressor can be found in relevant technical literature, such as Autodata. I can check it at my workplace on Monday if needed.
However, when replacing your compressor, it's crucial to also replace the dryer cartridge and the expansion valve. If the compressor was 'only' leaking, the air that entered the system will have introduced so much moisture that the old dryer will be overwhelmed. If your compressor has suffered a major failure, there may be debris lodged in the expansion valve, which could damage the new compressor almost immediately. Also, in the case of a major compressor failure, it's highly recommended to flush the system with refrigerant, a practice commonly performed by specialized air conditioning and refrigeration businesses. I would only trust a dealership with such specific issues if I had absolute confidence in their expertise, as air conditioning systems are still somewhat of a mystery to many.
Best regards,
Dominique.

The compressor was already filled with compressor oil, and I added a little more to that amount. I also intended to replace the dryer, but after I removed the old one, I realized that the VAG dealer had given me the wrong one. So, the system is currently running with the old dryer.
The only thing that has negatively stood out to me so far is that the fan turns on relatively frequently.

Hello!
What caused your old compressor to fail? If it was a leak, the fan had less work to do with the old one than it does with the new one, because without the refrigerant, the normal pressures and temperatures weren't reached. Was it a major issue, like the expansion valve or debris before the filter? That would cause the pressure in the system to rise, which would also increase the temperature. The old dryer... that's not good, especially since you already had the system empty and open. But who buys their AC replacement parts directly from VW? Let me guess: the wrong dryer cost around 60 euros, while a similar one from Hella, for example, costs around 40 euros from the aftermarket.
Best regards,
Dominique.

The old compressor was leaking.
Since the dryer wasn't in stock at the accessory store, I went to a VAG dealer, where they tried to sell me the wrong one. I paid about 65€ for the dryer, minus a 20% discount.
