Hello...
I'm at my wit's end. The following problem:
GOLF IV 2001 (243,000 km) SDI 1.9
Transmission DUS (the delicate rivets and such).
The first gearbox failed 8 months ago (differential damage), and it was the original one.
Second gear now.
I bought a partially refurbished gearbox from a German company in exchange for something.
During the installation, I also replaced the following:
Wheel bearing, original.
Dome Lager Org.
Traggel. Febi.
ATE brake systems and components.
If I accelerate in, for example, third gear, the gear knob seems to wobble back and forth (only when accelerating) as if something is slipping.
I don't know what to do anymore. This was also a problem with the previous transmission. The pendulum support is fine.
Is there anything else that seems to be pulsating or vibrating? I don't have a dual-mass flywheel!
For God's sake.

The engine is running smoothly.
No sounds.
He's running around.
The clutch has been used for 30,000 kilometers.
The problem has been occurring for approximately 6,000 kilometers.
With the other transmission, I could already feel a wave-like acceleration, but I assumed it was due to the creeping differential damage (which is common in those transmissions).
Supposedly, that wasn't the case, but it was still junk.
However, the computer has no errors.
I understand that remote diagnoses are almost impossible, but maybe someone else has an idea. I don't know anything anymore.
Is it possible that this is coming from the transmission? It's unlikely that two transmissions would have the same problem. I've also considered the engine. I haven't been able to do a proper test drive yet (I'm not allowed to drive again until next weekend).
I've been experiencing vibrations since the last transmission change, specifically at engine speeds of 4000-4500 RPM. The clutch was replaced there, but the gear lever still wasn't moving freely.
Okay, about 1500 euros have been invested - I could "cry" and I want my Golf 3 back.
Thank you for your help. |

Test with the handbrake engaged and in 1st gear and reverse gear, and observe how much the engine tends to stall when starting. - Engine mounts?

I'll have the parking brake test done today. Also, I'm going to have it really revved up in second gear. Let's see if the vibrations are still there.
In the circuit, the slight play when switching between modes is actually normal. |

hi...
Yes, there's oil inside, but it's completely correct to check, you never know. So, we just tested it. The engine is tilted at a normal angle, so there's nothing unusual.
It's probably coming from the transmission.
Okay, I'll check the oil level again this week, and then I'll just drive it like this for now.
I have a warranty on the transmission, after all.
The gear lever movement depends on the engine speed, not the vehicle speed.
How do you properly align the engine? I can shift the engine, including the transmission, either 1.5 cm to the left or to the right. The motor mount has elongated holes on the transmission.
What should I pay attention to, or what can I ignore? |

Hi @ all
Now that I have my driver's license back, I can better pinpoint the cause of the problem!
- During acceleration, an imbalance is transferred to the gear lever, especially at low speeds.
- It's gone in right turns! It's strong in left turns, and about average on straightaways.
For your information:
The right driveshaft has 20,000 km (approximately 12,400 miles) on it, while the left one has 240,000 km (approximately 149,000 miles).
I'm thinking of an internal joint, but which one? I would just replace the entire drive unit right away because I don't have much time for testing.
One, two, five opinions would be great.

Yes, it is a 35mm H&R.
I've already read that it often happens for that reason. I've already driven 130,000 km with the lowered suspension. |

It's possible that the driveshaft might not have enough length compensation, perhaps the alignment can be adjusted slightly. 2010 Caddy kombi life 103 tdisg6 BMM KXW

"But then it wouldn't have been a gradual problem. I immediately thought it was the transmission again." Well, I just had an exchange, and that wasn't it oh oh oh, that's how you learn. |

For information:
One of the drives was bad. I replaced both of them, just in case. The play was not detectable in the old part, but a clamp on the inside of the cuff was missing, although the grease was in good condition.
Well, anyway, thanks to everyone... |
