Hello.

"I've been having some issues with the ABS system lately. The ABS light is always on. I've already had the error codes read. The problem was with the rear wheel."

I replaced the hi-re sensor, and the wiring and connectors seem to be okay. This is similar to what happened with the sensor on the front right side before. I've driven about 20km and it's started 3-4 times. I measured the sensors:
Values from both rear wheel sensors are consistently 1051 Ohms. Resistance to ground is in the megaohm range.
The error code indicates a problem with the sensor on the rear right side.

I might go back today to have the error codes cleared. Or, is there a guide on how to clear/read the error codes yourself? Can the sensors/ABS be checked/measured?

Does anyone have or know where I can find a troubleshooting guide for the ABS system without using a diagnostic tool? Or a wiring diagram/workshop manual for the ABS?
I would be grateful for your help.

Greetings.

Hello!
Question: How's your wheel bearing play? What's the sensor ring doing? Is it seated firmly and flat against the brake drum, or has rust warped it? These could be potential causes for a malfunctioning ABS sensor on the rear axle.
Best regards,
Dominique.

Okay, let's keep it very basic:

If the sensor is faulty, that information will be stored in the error memory.
If you replace the sensor, the error will remain in the memory until you clear it.

Are you aware of that?
Definitely delete it.
What do the km/h values say when you're driving? -> Connect a VAGCOM device.

Hello and thank you for the answers.

I had the error memory cleared. After starting the engine, the warning light comes on again.
But I already checked the cable, didn't I?
I once took the brake drums apart.
I don't have a sensor ring, and I can't see any remnants of one. My drum brake has a completely normal hub on the inside, without a sensor wheel. However, it worked with the same drum brake previously!
The sensor is also located quite high and centrally on my car, just below the connecting rod, which has a slot. It's positioned roughly at the diameter of the circle formed by the wheel bolts.
The error was caused by a faulty ABS sensor.

Does anyone have or know where I can find technical descriptions/workshop manuals, etc. for ABS systems?

Greetings.
