Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, a hose connector on the solenoid valve that controls the EGR has broken off. Now, the EGR is icon_wink.gif. Since I expect problems during the next emissions test, I need a new one. Currently, there's one being auctioned on e*ay. It's from an AAZ engine and has the number 191 906 283 A. I'm wondering if it will also fit my 1997 A4 AFN?

Thank you for your help.

No.
Unfortunately, you need the exclusive part 1H0 906 627, which costs approximately 80 EUR icon_sad.gif.

Best regards,
Rudi

Is it already clear what's different about the 1J0 counterpart, which is significantly more expensive?

Are these only the electrical connections?

m;

Oops, those were the VTG valves, which varied so much in price.

Therefore, in my AKN, the N75 valve was replaced with one from a G4. It was a more cost-effective solution, despite the need for a one-time modification of the connector.

The record indicates that this valve was replaced, and it also mentions a connector conversion kit. Perhaps there's a way to obtain these parts more cheaply, even if the record isn't very detailed. The connector kits (which include the housing and a cable with pins already attached on both ends) only cost a few euros.

@meyert: What kind of engine is it? You might be able to skip checking it if it's not one of the newer EURO 3 or EURO 4 engines. The EGR system is only monitored in those, and the error/glow plug light will flash if it's not working.

A faulty EGR valve (unless the warning light is currently flashing) will not cause a failure in the vehicle inspection (AU), because only the opacity is measured, not the nitrogen oxides (the EGR valve reduces nitrogen oxides -> specialized article). In some cases, disabling the EGR valve may even improve the results of the vehicle inspection icon_wink.gif.

"97 AFN, there's nothing being monitored there yet. If you want to save money, build it in a way that nothing is visually noticeable, and otherwise, what "Nebelwerfer" says applies."

Did I miss something (or was it edited?) - yes, that's correct.

Simply close the vacuum hose to prevent dirt from entering the vacuum system, and enjoy the benefits of a deactivated EGR (lower fuel consumption, better response, cleaner intake passages, longer lifespan), without worrying about the emissions test icon_wink.gif.

Hello,

'I've been driving without the EGR system for several years. I've sealed the solenoid valve tightly. I've attached the vacuum hose to the solenoid valve using black silicone. Previously, I had a workshop that could get the car through the emissions test 'easily.' Unfortunately, that workshop is no longer available, so I'm worried that the missing EGR system will now be noticed during a real emissions test. But if it doesn't, then that's even better.'

Best regards and thanks for the tips.

so that I feared that the missing EGR valve would now be noticed during a real emissions test.

If, then only by a qualified icon_exclaim.gif inspector who connects a VAG COM or other diagnostic tool, knows which control unit and measurement block to look in, and also knows the target values, and understands how a 'defective' EGR valve manifests itself. And where can you find such a person - right - nowhere icon_biggrin.gif.

You can definitely go to the TÜV (German technical inspection) with a faulty AGR valve icon_wink.gif. My inspection was very good, even with a chip and without the AGR valve icon_biggrin.gif. I even asked the TÜV inspector if everything was okay , pretending to be very concerned.

The cheaper VTG valve can also be used with slight modifications http://7797.rapidforum.com/topic=100774717887...
