Hi.

Does anyone have a link or similar to wiring diagrams for the VW sound system?

I have a "RCD 500 MP3 with VW Sound" and I need to identify the pins on the amplifier that correspond to the four input channels, in case I ever need to connect "something" more.

Thank you.

Hello Martin,

I found some circuit diagrams there.
Unfortunately, there is no description available for the pins connecting the radio to the amplifier.
Perhaps you can deduce the correct outputs based on the colors of the cables.
I haven't checked that myself yet.

Radio - Amplifier
Amplifier - Front Speakers
Amplifier - Rear Speakers

Thank you, Maxx.

Do you also have the RCD500, perhaps with the VW Sound system?
Then I could report on it if I have the right channels.

The T8k with its four black and four "colored" wires looks exactly like the one we're looking for.

You can determine which color corresponds to which channel by using headphones, test clips, and adjusting the balance and fader accordingly.
SSP342 doesn't reveal anything about that.

Hi Martin,

Yes, I also have the RCD500, but without the sound system.
The price-performance ratio wasn't good enough for me.

Yes, the T8k is definitely the correct connector icon_smile.gif.
If the T8k connector on the radio is a standard ISO connector, then the pinout will be the same as a standard ISO connector.
Outside, the rear channels; inside, the front channels.

If you've figured out the schedule, you can post it here icon_biggrin.gif.

Hmm?

I heard the RCD300 at my sister's place and the Dynasound in the demo car.

I think the VW Sound system was a good choice for that price range.
The 300 model likely has the same amplifier as the 500 model, so nothing will happen.
The Dyna was too expensive for me, and my VW already makes a really good "boom-boom" sound icon_smile.gif.

Okay, I'll post it once I have the schedule.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to test the VW sound system myself.
My decision was based on information I found online.
Many people complained about it.
In Austria, the sound system would have cost €850.
To afford it, I splurged on the parking sensors and the tilting and telescoping steering wheel for the DSG transmission.
I'm actually quite satisfied with the sound quality of the RCD500, even with the standard 10 speakers.
However, one shouldn't expect truly deep bass.

The difference between the RCD500 with and without a sound system is "simply" the amplifier and the amplified speakers.

I would have liked a Bose system, like the one installed in the Audi.
Unfortunately, something like that doesn't exist in golf icon_sad.gif.

icon_question.gif 500 mp3 to 500 mp3 sounds cost only 300 EUR in Germany (including 3C and 16% VAT).

They're crazy in Austria.

You can say that out loud icon_surprised.gif icon_evil.gif.

Now you know why cars are so expensive in Austria...

Aha, interesting.
I thought that the Dynaudio system would include a dedicated subwoofer icon_confused.gif.

With the description, you have all the information needed to connect an amplifier.
Well done, Martin. icon_smile.gif

That's the plan.

Kenwood 923 (yes, yes, it's almost as old as I am icon_wink.gif), and a 30-series speaker mounted on the rear left side (where the A3 Sportback has it).

(The one in the picture has the second battery on the left, which is why it has a higher shelf.) I only have the lowest, recessed one.

Does the number 30 fit on the back of your car?
You could directly take the subwoofer from the Sportback model and integrate it into the system.

The part costs 131.50 EUR excluding VAT.
8P3 035 382 B - for 4-door models with active speaker system.
8P3 035 382 C - for 4-door models with Bose sound system.

There's plenty of space - after all, I bought the 3C specifically because of its spaciousness.

The compartment under the folding floor can accommodate a 17-inch spare tire!

You would also need to adjust the Audi Sub icon_wink.gif in terms of its enclosure, since it's completely hidden and concealed in the A3... I have amplifiers , I have 30-inch speakers , and cutting MDF is a lot of fun .

I thought you wanted to install the 30-liter tank on the left side of the side panel?
I understand that there is plenty of space in the spare tire well to accommodate a 30-inch tire icon_wink.gif.

The A3 subwoofer must be handled with care.

Yes, the number 30 goes on the left (if it does).

But let's get to the current disguise.

I only mentioned the RR fairing because it's about the same length as the side panel – it's just a rough estimate of the size.

Okay, I understand icon_smile.gif.

It's a good idea to install the subwoofer icon_cool.gif sideways using MDF.

Best regards, Maxx.
