Hello,
My father drives an A6 2.5 TDI quattro (4B) with a 5-speed tiptronic transmission, which I believe was manufactured in 2004. (He bought it used.)
Between the second and third gear, there's a kind of gap. That is, the display (when Tiptronic is activated) already shows gear three, even though there's no power transmission, and the engine initially runs 500 rpm higher, as if the clutch is slipping, before the gear "engages" after 2-3 seconds and is actually in place.
This issue occurs both when upshifting and downshifting, in both Tiptronic and normal mode. It behaves like an extra gear.
The error memory is empty.
After consulting with Audi, the mechanic first changed and topped up the transmission fluid (apparently, there wasn't enough in it) and said I should drive it for 1000 km. If it doesn't improve, they will replace the transmission (under warranty). Seriously? The problem is still the same, and then they want to replace the transmission? I doubt it's a mechanical problem; it's probably an electronic issue, like so often. Does anyone have any ideas?
edit: Is there a way to adjust the clutch engagement point, or is it possible to perform a basic adjustment of the gearbox?

Best regards,
Michael.

If it weren't for the fact that it might be better, you would replace the transmission (under warranty). Lol, the problem is unchanged, and then you replace the transmission?

Okay, I would be happy to get a new transmission for free. If it turns out that wasn't the problem, then they would still have to fix the actual issue.

Perhaps someone here knows something, I unfortunately don't. This possible solution, written by experts, was only mentioned to me by the dealer after the gearbox replacement icon_cool.gif.

Okay, something different: Does anyone have a label file for the automatic transmission, or can someone tell me what the meaning of the data blocks is?

Unfortunately, I don't have a label file right now, but if they offer you a new transmission under warranty, then go for it icon_exclaim.gif. Even if the problem isn't fixed with it, you'll have a transmission that is considerably younger and less likely to break down than an older one.

If that wasn't it, then they can definitely exchange it icon_lol.gif.

What does your gearbox say?
And what software do you want to use to edit the dataset?

Best regards,
Matthias.

@everyone: Of course, it's great to have the transmission replaced under warranty, but I'm more interested in knowing what's actually wrong with it...

@Troubleshooter: I don't have the part number of the control unit memorized; I'll need to extract it from VAG-COM. What do you mean by "edit the data set"? I simply want to analyze the switching processes using a log file, and I'd like to know the meaning of the measurement blocks.

The part number is 4B0 927 156 FK AG5 01V 2.5l TDI RdW 2222.
I have now identified the measurement groups, as the same control unit is also used in the Phaeton, for which a label file is available.
I would like to know what basic settings can be configured on this control unit.

Best regards,
Michael.
