I recently talked to a mechanic in my workshop about my warm-starting problems with my AHF 110PS TDI.

I suspect that the fuel pump's starting point may not be properly adjusted, or that there may be something wrong with the starting amount...

The mechanic then said that they had recently experienced the exact same problem on an A3 (I don't remember the exact engine code, but it was also a 110PS TDI). After a long search, they had almost completely disassembled the engine before Bosch gave them the tip to replace the starter motor.

And lo and behold, the warm-starting problem was fixed! The master's statement was that the old machine was simply 'too slow' to reach the correct RPM due to the fuel injection adjustment...

I'd like to hear what the experts here think about this...

Oh, and if something isn't 100% explained, please don't immediately jump to conclusions, I was just trying to convey what I was told by the master...

Hi

The issue of a weak starter has also been mentioned here several times, but I don't think it has been thoroughly discussed yet.

My AFN has been starting somewhat hesitantly since new (around 3 engine revolutions), but the colder it is, the better.

Adjusting the starting fuel mixture does not necessarily improve things for me: if it ignites faster, the idle speed increases significantly, and the whole thing feels like it's putting more strain on the engine. icon_sad.gif
