Here's a brief background. I acquired an A4 with a faulty AKN engine. The engine is irreparably damaged (broken valves). The car had been sitting at a dealership for a little over a year. The immediate shutdown of the system is one thing, but another issue is that I've been told the control unit is still suffering from memory loss due to the prolonged power outage, and that it needs to be "initialized" again.
"Questions for the community: Has anyone done this before? Is this actually the correct way to do it? Can I help myself, and if so, how?" "Or do I have to go to the dealer and have them take money out of my pocket?"
Thank you in advance.

Tip: You can put the control unit in a box, open the box 10 years later, plug it in, and it will work.
That's probably not the problem.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you, that reassures me greatly. I was already thinking I would have to have the car towed to the dealer. Best regards, GT.
