Hello everyone,

I performed the timing belt replacement on my sister's car this weekend (Passat, manufactured in 2004, AVF PD engine), and after following the excellent instructions https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=5408&highlight=nockenwelle+einstellen (thank you, ULF), I adjusted the belt. Now, I have noticed the following:
- Before accelerating, there's no response from the engine, but above approximately 2000 RPM, it becomes very powerful.
- Already at approximately 1700 RPM, it offers a better "power delivery."

Am I imagining this, or is it really possible?

Regards,

Yes, that might be the case. Some printers may have been shipped with incorrect settings.

Does the procedure for resetting the PDE values, as described in the instructions, generally apply to ALL PD-TDI engines, regardless of which specific PDE units are installed?
Can the same procedure be followed when replacing all of the PDEs (partial differential equations)?

@gremlin - I'm experiencing the exact same behavior with my PD-TDI. icon_biggrin.gif I mentioned this to the workshop, and they said: 'That can't be...' but that it drives well like that. } You get a noticeable power boost above 1500 RPM.

AFAIK: Yes, at least for the 1.9 engines.

Hmm, but the graph and its accompanying description always refer to torque and acceleration significantly above 3000 RPM. Why are you now noticing an improvement at low RPMs? haithamina

Hello,

I know that's why I also shared my experience here. It was previously almost like a light switch: completely off (0) then suddenly on (1).
Considering that it was only off by about 4 mm (NW OT, late KW), I would recommend everyone to check and correct these measurements.
Instead of replacing the belts as is sometimes done, it's already running.

Hi,

The diagram roughly describes my experience with my Polo.
If other engines are factory-set differently, then adjusting them to correct the issue may also result in different performance changes.

For me, it was the ARL icon_wink.gif.
