Hi
I ordered my car "with all the trimmings," meaning with the model and engine specifications, because that's exactly how I want it.
If I now want to remove parts of the text strings:
- should I remove them as soon as possible (i.e., about 2 weeks after painting)
- wait a bit, if so, for how long
"PASSAT" should be removed and "2.0" - I only want "TD I" to remain.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was. |

Hi,
I removed the TDI from myself about 18 months ago... now (3 1/2 years later), there are no traces left, but it was also the same immediately after removal.
Why do you want it specifically in that direction? I've only left "Seat" and "Ibiza"... let people think that there's a 1.0-liter engine with 50 horsepower installed.
Best regards,

Well,
That 1.0L engine, frankly, no one will believe it, especially since you have two straight 70s-era exhaust pipes sticking out the back and the 235 tires are also spinning.
But I just don't want anyone to think I'm some kind of {impolite stranger}.
Furthermore, red "Is" on the Passat are still quite rare, and I also had everything on my Golf except for a black "TDI" ... because I had scratched some chrome while polishing, I had to remove everything.

It's still easily removable even after a long time. I ordered the golf course completely on my own, which unfortunately wasn't possible with the polo set (or the salesperson couldn't manage it).
On the Polo, we had a rather embarrassing "1.2" and were able to remove it without any problems after 2 years using a hairdryer. However, you need to wait relatively long before the adhesive becomes soft.
I would certainly not do that to the new paint; you also need to lower the suspension a bit and use the levers, as that could leave marks. Gruß

Hi,
My "TDI" could be easily operated with just my fingers, except for one letter where I needed to use a clip to secure it. Heat was not needed - The outside temperature was around 20 degrees, as I recall.

Jan,
How long were the parts on your Ibi before they were replaced? Gruß

I'll just try it on my sister's Passat, and if it works, I'll wait for my younger sister, and then it will fit, or?

I believe I removed the Polo lettering about 2 months after the vehicle's initial registration.
Use the heat gun to heat the metal to a high temperature (check with a probe, as it must also withstand completely new paint!), and then use a fingernail to lift a letter and loosen the first piece. If it doesn't work right away, try again (the metal cools down quickly, especially in cold air), pull it up again, etc.
On the back of my car, there are no traces of the TDI (@Martin: ätsch, 3 x red ) left. Gruß Ulf

At a friend's place on the A3, the raised letters were removed with a hairdryer at the dealership during delivery because they had forgotten to order the vehicle with the correct model name, as desired.
When my aunt received her Polo Tour, the TUI logo (sticker) was also removed at the same time as the delivery, because she wanted it to be that way.
In both cases, it went smoothly.

In industrial coatings, the paint is baked in, unlike normal painting.
Why don't you just use some adhesive remover? They dissolve the adhesive very quickly, but you should then re-preserve the area. A4 Limu 07/96 AHU@110PS 192tkm 08/05-05/08

BTW.....which signage combination do you prefer....I could have either "Touran" or "TDI" on the new Touran, or even both. Everyone can tell it's a Touran, and I also got the TDI as a gift... what does the 170's TDI look like, which I won't be using anyway? Is it also red?
I would still leave the phrase out there, now that it will naturally disappear in the mud at the back, and then after 2 months, it can be removed for the spring cleaning.... |

Quote: | | I could either choose "Touran" or "TDI" or, alternatively, omit both. |
According to the configurator, there are only two official options: "Removal of lettering for the model and engine designation on the vehicle rear" (meaning both will be removed) or "Removal of lettering for the engine designation on the vehicle rear" (meaning the TDI lettering will be removed). Touran with TDI engine, should not be available from the factory or according to the configurator.

@ Matthias
Read it completely
Quote: | | The "PASSAT" should be removed and the "2.0" - I only want to keep the "TDI". |
Exactly, either "engine gone - so 2.0 TDI" or "everything gone - so PASSAT 2.0 TDI".
I just want to add a part of the engine designation. The "I" on the 170 is red.

I removed the lettering from my Golf 2 Fire and Ice after a few weeks of using a hairdryer (carefully). Then I wiped away the remaining glue with gasoline. This was done without damaging the paint. The paint is also gasoline-resistant, according to the manufacturer.
Greetings
