HI.

Today I installed the Golf 4 GRA kit on my Leon 1M.
Bis auf die Tatsache, dass die Anleitung unvollstaendig ist, alles ok. The GRA is great.

BUT:

When you have to steer a lot, for example when maneuvering, something clicks inside the return ring, about once or twice per rotation.
During the modification, I naturally left the ring in the middle position and secured it with tape when it was extended.

My theory about it is:

The steering wheel is mounted on the steering column, and it's guaranteed to be positioned exactly as it was before the modification.
The reset ring is clipped into the steering column lever assembly, where the left and supporting part is now new (the left lever has a clamp that secures both levers to the steering column).
If the ring is not perfectly concentric with the steering wheel, or if its plane of rotation is tilted relative to the steering wheel, the connector and the two pins on the ring in the steering wheel will engage. This could cause a clicking sound.

How could I become the master of clicking? Probably only by first taking everything apart icon_sad.gif.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"I'm not sure what you mean by that."
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

"Just a heads-up: When installing the switch on the Passat, there's a clearance that needs to be considered between the switch and the steering wheel (I think it's about 3mm). Did you make sure to account for that?"

What happens if you quickly turn the steering wheel straight after indicating to the right, or if the steering wheel is straight, you abruptly move the indicator lever from the right indicator position back to the center? Does it occasionally flash in the opposite direction? I'm currently arguing with VW about whether I can have this accepted as a standard feature, especially considering the possibility of installing a comfort blinker module.
Bye.
peace

Yes, I also read that note about the 3mm clearance between the steering wheel and the ring (it's in the instructions).

But where are the 3 mm supposed to be?
I can easily fit something between the steering wheel and the ring [presumably referring to a part of the steering wheel or dashboard].

"Only the part of the steering wheel where the ring is located has a visible opening. When the steering wheel is straight, with the opening at the top, there's very little space underneath it."

Something might be loose between the steering wheel and the ring.
