Hello,
Since it has gotten a bit colder here recently, the driver's door and the passenger door can only be opened from the outside.
You feel like you're dealing with a child lock.
This morning, I completely disassembled the driver's side door.
(You need to disconnect/remove things like the trim, window mechanisms, and cables.)
After that, I finally arrived at the castle.
It was quickly investigated, and the culprit was found.
The lever to which the cable for operating the lock was attached was completely rusted and lubricated with a grease that was not cold-resistant. This grease crumbled into small pieces when I moved the lever slightly. After lubricating everything with VW grease (which also goes into the door hinges) and moving the lever back and forth 50 times with pliers, I thought everything was fine.
Reinstalled, the door was opened from the inside once, then it came off its hinges because the lever remained in its position, but the cable retracted again ---AAARRRGGHHHH---.
So, I removed the lock again and secured the latch with a piece of copper wire.
Now it's stopped.
Sure, here's the translation:
"Best regards," or "Sincerely,".
writing with frozen fingers.
dakoal
