Aloha everyone!
Because I think it's high time to check the AGR valve, I want to open a part of it and check if a lot of soot has accumulated, or if the valve might not be closing properly (VAG cars might be involved, I don't know anyone with experience with them, and I don't trust workshops icon_twisted.gif).
Where would be the most strategic place to open something in order to obtain a specific result? And what spare parts should be kept on hand, specifically for this test?
Unfortunately, I've read a lot here, but I haven't found anything specific about this engine (I'm not a mechanic), nor anything related to this particular question. Please provide some tips!

Best regards,
Torsten.

Remove the boost pressure hose from the flange on the intake manifold and take a look inside?

Well,

Nothing is excessive.
I had a complete photo story here about disassembling the intake components on a 1Z engine, including... Replace exhaust manifold gaskets.

The complete ZIP file might even be located on a server somewhere on the internet.

Aloha everyone!
Okay, as I understand from the technical article "Vacuum Systems in TDI engines" and as far as I can tell from the vehicle itself, the AGR (Abgasrückführung) valve is located on the intake manifold, and the exhaust gases are directed into the pressure-charged part of the intake system, which is essentially the intake manifold. It would be a bit strange, but oh well...
I had just removed the rubber hoses above the intake manifold (due to a catalytic converter replacement), and besides a little oil mist (gray and greasy), there was nothing else visible.
So, it seems we're back to the same thing. I found your instructions for the engine mounts, which are here. Well, I'll give it a try and get back to you.

Best regards,
Torsten.

Hi Torsten,

If you look at these pictures, you can see that the 1Z directs the dirty exhaust gases further down into the intake manifold.
The front part is always just "foggy," but then further back, it gets... unpleasant.

Wow, I didn't realize a 1Z could be so thirsty! *hides and runs away!*

I received a text message from the company's process monitoring system at 3:30 AM. Since then, I've been working, so I ask for your understanding, as I've had less than 4 hours of sleep. icon_cool.gif

Aloha everyone!
Okay, correction, I already had the AGR issue, sorry. But that was just a side note, and on my local computer, I wasn't "present" or actively involved.
That is really new_shocked.gif nauseating...
@dieselmartinViewing profile: dieselmartin: It seems depressing, how am I supposed to get that soot out of the intake channels? It won't do anything without that... It seems impossible to have practically no soot here; just using good engine oil isn't enough. I always drive at low RPMs (which is why that rumbling at 1,400 RPM bothers me so much), but my car probably has the channels completely full... Let's think about what I'm doing here... icon_rolleyes.gif
Certainly, there are also gaskets on the flexible pipe section connecting the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve, which aren't very visible in the photos, but it's logical when looking at the individual part photos. Thank you very much!
Okay, regarding the oil situation in the intake hoses and the turbocharger, I can't really tell how big the problem is. As I said, I have a thin, gray oil film everywhere. Is that comparable? Did you experience any other symptoms related to the issue?

Best regards,
Torsten.

I left that junk in my head alone.

Since the intake manifold was clinically verschandeln after cleaning and was subsequently always cleaned again with a charge pressure of 1.1 bar, I assumed that this dirt would gradually "wash out" over time.
I don't have any proof.

There's definitely no more room for any more mess!
