Hello,
Since the crankshaft oil seal (WEDI/WDR) on my little 1Y Golf was leaking and the engine block was already quite damaged, I replaced it.
Yesterday, KW was assigned to one OT (Operating Theater).
Made a bunch of markings on the timing belt and the "split" pulley of the ESP.
While removing the pulleys, the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) advanced by 1.2,3 steps – I'm not entirely sure how many. Since I had a lot of markings, I thought it wouldn't be a problem.
Once the pulley was removed, I saw that this ESP model doesn't have a Woodruff key!
The small portion of the two-part pulley does not have a groove, but the half-moon shape is still machined into the shaft of the ESP.
If I now adjust the lift using the dial indicator, it can apply to cylinder 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Has anyone replaced a WEDI (water pump) on a 1Y/AAZ engine with a split pulley and remembers which way the groove on the shaft was facing for the timing mark (OT-1)?
"As an alternative, could I use a socket wrench to quickly rotate the pump via a lifting device, in a way that (with the ignition on) diesel fuel would be forced out of the fuel injection lines?"
Thank you very much in advance.

HI.
I only experienced the fun of using a single-piece wheel on the JX and AAB models, but it's possible to make it spin manually. And that's where the diesel engine should come into play. It then snaps over the cam of the disc.
Currently, the cat is in the process of climbing up a ramp, but she will likely want to come back down if you let her.
But why did you have to twist them so many times? We always just let them snap back and then only had to adjust them slightly.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hi,
While trying to hold the scraper in place, it slipped out of her grasp a few times.
If I had left the outer half of the wheel attached, the pump would never have twisted (due to the resistance from the motor, transmission, and handbrake).
But I'll see if anything "leaks out" when I turn it by hand.
I found something funny.
Sure, here's the translation:
"Best regards," or "Sincerely,".

Hi,
"You might be able to see the spot on the pulley where the Woodruff key was located. The rest of the adjustment would then involve some fiddling with a dial indicator in the central bore of the ESP."
If nothing is visible on the pulley, I would align the pulley to the top dead center (TDC) position of the first cylinder and rotate the shaft so that the fluid is delivered to the connection for the first cylinder.
It's all a hassle.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
"I'm done!"
Also das war eine sch... Work.
In addition, the line to the vacuum pressure indicator was leaking.
He also sucked air into the great manual pump.
But now it's running.
Only the sound of the engine is completely different.
I don't know why either. Before, the setting was 0.98mm at TDC (Top Dead Center), and now it's the same again.
The sound is considerably harsher.
I assume it's because no air is getting in, and the WEDI is sealed.
Sure, here's the translation:
"Best regards," or "Sincerely,".
