Hello,
I once reduced the top speed on one of our T5s (using the engine control unit, channel 07). It worked fine, but now I want to increase it back to 150 km/h, but it's not accepting the new value. After pressing the test button, it stays at the old value, which is 80 km/h. What went wrong? Help!

As far as I know, the value can only be adjusted downwards.
Find a skilled tuner near you who is capable of...
to write the original dataset back into the EEPROM.

Best regards,
Rudi

It's something like that. Congratulations on successfully programming randomly and without a clear purpose icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif.

Caution!

When replacing the engine control unit, the replacement unit has the function of the speed limiter, but it is not activated. If the vehicle needs to have its maximum speed limited, the following steps must be performed. A set speed value cannot be increased later. icon_lol.gif

Sure, I'll try again. Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

Press 16 for access authorization/login.
- Enter code 12233 for the speed limit.
- Then, select '10 - Adaptation' and enter the channel number '-07'.
- Enter the desired maximum speed.

Okay, gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.
maximum speed: 120 km/h → 00120
maximum speed: 86 km/h → 00086

The set value is displayed.
- Confirm the displayed value and then save it.
- Check the activation in the measurement block - 08. The set value should be displayed in channel 27.

If nothing else works, you can directly program the EEPROM (if the possibility exists and the technology is available), or, as Rudi suggests, consult a tuner icon_wink.gif.

Current VAG-COM versions ask MULTIPLE times if you really want to make this change - but those who don't want to listen/read and think they know everything better will just have to find out for themselves. icon_wink.gif

Sorry again.
Following Erwin's instructions, I proceeded as he had shown me. However, I didn't receive any "attention" or warning message.

I'm completely stressed out. We're a taxi shuttle service. I can't even get the car running right now. It's only running at 80% capacity.

Okay, a significant portion is missing. icon_wink.gif The quickest way is to find a skilled tuner in your area who can fix it for you. icon_wink.gif

and reflashing it at the friendly service center probably won't do anything, right?

The maximum speed icon_wink.gif is not stored in the flash memory. icon_wink.gif It is stored in the EEPROM. I don't know if the VW dealer can access that. } It's best to ask them tomorrow. }

I guess I have to. We need the car on Monday. If I had known, I would have stayed away from it. Unfortunately, the Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) manual didn't have any warnings.

It might be different in ErWin. But did you change it using Vag-Com? A message appears when you do that.

Current VAG-COM versions ask MULTIPLE times if you really want to make this change - but those who don't want to listen/read and think they know better will just have to find out.

No, no message, honestly. I entered the value, then clicked "test," then "save," and then it said "are you sure, etc.," and then I clicked "OK," and that was it.
