Hello,
What is the top speed like for you?
When I drive it at its original performance level, I can barely reach 190 km/h (with a lot of noise and effort).
When the chip is installed, the speedometer maxes out at 210 km/h.
Apparently, the Chip is supposed to have 110 horsepower.
Acceleration values in 3rd gear are 10.5 seconds without a chip and approximately 7 seconds with a chip (measured from 2000 to 4000 RPM).

QUESTION:
-Is this value (as is, or after being tuned) okay?
Could it be that I have such poor acceleration because I'm using tires with the size 215/40 R16?

What kind of original and tuned performance can we expect from cars with around 90 horsepower?

By the way, I have a 1996 1Z with 200,000 km on it, running on 215/40/16 tires and with full equipment. (I think this is important because of the weight, so you can assess whether these values are reasonable.)

'I'm still baffled by the 10-cent tuning, even though I spent €500. Volkswagen says everything is okay, but the 10 cents didn't have any effect. But honestly, I don't care about it anymore.'

Hello!

Your top speed readings appear to be normal.

To accelerate:

1. Download Ulf's 'Durchzugsrechner' (ventilation calculator).

2. Perform a rolling test on the same track where you recorded your 2000-4000 meter time, and record the time in the rolling resistance table.

Enter all the values in the DZR (German term for a specific document or system).

4. Enter as much positive or negative adjustment in the DZR (Digital Readout) until the displayed time matches the time you have measured.

Now you know if the engine power is correct.
I can't make any predictions beforehand, except that your chip will definitely deliver more than the 20 horsepower you specified if it needs to reduce the time from 10.5 to 7 seconds.
Best regards,
Ernst

Sure, that's nice and good, but if you have absolutely no idea about Excel, it just won't work icon_cry.gif.

'But I'm still curious to know how the TDI performs compared to other cars, whether they are stock or modified.'

My Golf III Estate, which now has 211,000 km on the odometer, can reach a speedometer reading of 190-195 km/h without any modifications. Interestingly, it's still running with the original injectors. Currently, I have winter tires, size 185.
Best regards, D.

My then-owned Golf III TDI Variant with 90 horsepower, in its stock form, actually reached 187 km/h (the speedometer indicated 195 km/h). This value was determined by running the car at full throttle for 5 kilometers on a flat section of the A2 highway, using a stopwatch.

The same car, with a 110 horsepower engine, has a speedometer reading of 212 km/h and an MFA (Multi Function Display) reading of 202 km/h.

My Audi 80 1.9 TDI Avant reaches a speed of 175-180 km/h on a straight road, according to the speedometer, without any modifications.
I'm not particularly happy with this value, especially because I hardly ever achieve this speed when going uphill.
Sometimes, however, it goes incredibly fast, which could be due to a rare tailwind.

Is the Audi with the 1Z engine heavier than the Golf Variant, or should I check to see if something is wrong?

Okay, so my A3 TDI with 90 horsepower originally had a speedometer reading of approximately 190 km/h with the 195 tires.
With a chip tuning upgrade providing 125 horsepower (from ********) and 225 tires, it reaches 210 km/h according to the speedometer.
And with the Wizzla 195 tires, I reached 220 km/h. According to the climate control system, it was "only" 193 km/h. Don't ask me why.

I don't know what the drag coefficient (Cw value) of the Audi is. But the Golf has a very good Cw value of 0.3. That can be crucial.

Hi,
My Passat Variant, manufactured in 1996, with tires size 205/50-15, reaches approximately 170-180 km/h according to the speedometer without chip tuning, but it requires some acceleration. With a tune increasing horsepower to about 125 PS and other modifications, it reaches around 200 km/h with some acceleration, even up to 205 km/h on the speedometer, although 190 km/h is reached quickly. After 4000 RPM, I notice that power is being reduced from the engine. At top speed, I don't need to fully depress the accelerator pedal.

Hello.
If I may interpret it correctly, my values are actually fine.
However, the speed readings vary quite significantly.
