Hello,

I would really appreciate any experiences people have regarding the lifespan of T6 shock absorbers. After 141,000 km, my front ones seem to be damping less effectively.

The rear shock absorbers were already replaced at approximately 100,000 kilometers, but this may have been unnecessary. While they were reported as faulty, the old shock absorbers appeared to be in good condition and were not leaking when they were replaced.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
Is there a company with a shock absorber testing facility that you can access? Anything else would be speculation as long as you don't have a real outage.
Were different tires installed?
My front shock absorbers have 180,000 km / 10 years on them. The rear ones were replaced last spring because the protective covers were damaged, and the labor cost (at the workshop) was not proportional to the cost of the parts. If it were my own work, I would have left it in.

Hello Herbert,

Unfortunately, no.

When the weather is warmer, I'll try taking the exam without any aids.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,

Since I was able to manually (using a icon_lol.gif) induce swaying in the front structure, a shock absorber test was omitted. The shock absorbers and strut mounts have now been replaced.
Similarly, the tie rods were suspected of being the source of the rattling noise.

Best regards, Rainer.

Test the old ones while they are disassembled, but store them upright before the test.
