First, some background: I hit a curb quite hard with my Ibiza. The impact was so strong that the front left rim was deformed and had to be replaced. After the impact, the steering wheel was slightly crooked, and the car pulled to one side.
I then had the alignment adjusted, and I was told that it was "really necessary."
Now the steering wheel is straight again, and the car doesn't pull to one side, even when coasting or braking.
BUT: When I accelerate, the car pulls to the left. It literally yanks the steering wheel. If I release the steering wheel, it drifts slightly to the left and remains in that position until I take my foot off the gas, then it returns to the neutral position.
What could be the problem? As I said, if I'm not pressing the accelerator, the car drives perfectly straight. I hope you can help me! BMW 123d Coupe

Hi,
Is the wheel suspension loose? Try putting the car in first gear and have someone push the car forward or backward. While doing this, observe the distance between the wheel hubs and the fenders, and if there is any play, try to determine where it is coming from.
Best regards, Rainer.

If the steering wheel was misaligned (how misaligned was it?), something must have been bent or twisted, otherwise it would still be straight. It's possible that the wheel bearing housing (axle shaft) twisted or bent. This may not always be detectable through measurement. However, a correct measurement with all values within the tolerance range is a prerequisite for determining this.
Check it out first, following Rainer's instructions. Maybe it's just a rubber bushing that has failed.
If not, mail the measurement sheet. 3B5 AJM

Perhaps it's just that a rubber bushing has failed.
Here, I would start by searching.
'I had the exact same problem with my old Fiesta. The cause was a torn rear axle boot on the front control arm.'
Best regards, Jochen.

"I had the same problem with 2 of my older cars (both Renaults): When accelerating, the car would literally 'jump' to one side, and when suddenly releasing the gas, it would jump to the other. The cause was a worn ball joint in the tie rod. In the Megane, the problem only appeared after the alignment had been recently adjusted. I replaced both ball joints, and the jumping stopped."
