Hello!
First, here's some information about my vehicle:
Audi A4 1Z with VNT17 turbocharger, 0.232 injectors, 16-bit ECU, switchable software, 300kPa sensor, approximately 160 horsepower.
Today, I was driving normally on the highway with a warm engine at approximately 62 mph (100 km/h). Suddenly, the check engine light started flashing without any warning. I didn't notice any loss of power or anything similar. After about 10-15 minutes, the light stopped blinking.
Back home, I started the engine again for a check â and it ran without any problems.
I've used the search function, but I couldn't find anything relevant.
I've only encountered the infamous Relais 109 a few times.
Could this be the reason, or is there a sporadic fault in the engine control unit?
Best regards.
P.S. I installed a remote control system about a week ago, and during the installation, I removed the cover under the steering wheel and the side panel.

The error log says the following:
VAG-COM version: DRV 311.3-S.
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'2 errors found:'
01265 - Exhaust gas recirculation valve (N18).
31-10 - Interruption / Short circuit to ground - Interrupted.
00741 - Brake pedal monitoring.

Hi Haza!
Regarding error code "N18", the only solution is to trace the wiring to that valve using a circuit diagram and check the connectors. Since it doesn't say "intermittent," the error appears to be permanent and relatively easy to locate.
Do not attempt to fix it yourself; it costs approximately 10 EUR at a professional repair shop, and it's a known issue.
Hope I was able to help you, and please keep us updated!

Error code: 741.
Brake pedal monitoring - implausible signal.
Possible causes:
Brake light switch (F) defective.
Brake pedal switch (F47) defective.
Switching points of both switches are not synchronized.
What's the best way to proceed now? Or, what's most likely broken?

"insult"? ...I'll help you right away .
Oh, so I was basically too fast - that's what my friend always says *laughs*.
Okay, what I forgot to mention about the brake light switch (you might want to search the forum!): Rotate it 45 degrees, and the old one will come out; With the new one, FIRST pull the pin at the front all the way out, and THEN insert it while the brake pedal is NOT pressed (!) - it might be a little difficult, and the gray pin will slide to the correct length - insert it straight and lock it in place, and then problem number 2 should be gone.It is known that the preheating indicator light flashes when something is not working correctly.
Regarding error 1, please keep us updated and check if you accidentally unplugged or disconnected anything in the cable clutter.
Good luck! 1. S.verlängerung: Audi A4 Avant quattro, 1,9 TDi MKB: AFN, BJ98, Vollausstattung, +VP1L

Warning! Caution! There is now a newer version that MUST be installed when the pedal is not being used. Before installation, apply special grease to the tip. I think it's green - I'll check in the basement.

Yes, like "without EGR".
You know, all that stuff about the operating license, registration, insurance coverage, *blah blah blah*, and *boring legal jargon*.
AND: You environmental jerk, dude! *dirty laugh*
Okay, the main thing is to avoid EGR sludge in the intake manifold. And there are no oil-damaged poultry there either.
Okay, please replace the brake light switch as described above, and that should fix your problem in about 95% of cases.
But please, let's try to stay on topic!

I only have 2 blind plates instead of the EGR pipe and EGR valve, and 'AGR sludge' is a foreign word to me .
I think you almost fell asleep while reading the sentence above (especially considering the time! *lol*).

GrĂźĂe aus MĂźnchen!
This morning I drove to work without any problems. What are the consequences if you don't replace this switch? My brakes are working normally.
Best regards from Haza.

Well, in my car, the EGR valves are still there - more or less functional!
...because I don't have time to finally tackle that .
Just a quick note about the brake light switch:
When you press the brake pedal, information is transmitted via a (2-pole button, 1 normally open contact, 1 normally closed contact... I think) to both the main control unit (MSG) and the braking control unit. The brake lights also illuminate at this time, but its primary function here is to monitor whether the information from the ELECTRONIC accelerator pedal is plausible or not.
Try driving normally and maintaining a speed of 60 km/h - regardless. Then, simultaneously with your left foot, gently apply the brakes. After about 2 seconds, the MSG will immediately reduce the boost, no matter how much further you press the accelerator, because it thinks the gas pedal is falsely transmitting "accelerate," even though you don't want it to. Because simultaneous braking and acceleration doesn't happen in practice.
The system monitors the brake PRESSURE within the line. When you press the brake pedal, brake pressure must be generated.
Since the switch occasionally triggers prematurely and the target brake pressure has not yet been reached, an error code is stored, indicating, for example, that the brake pressure sensor is defective (due to an implausible signal - intermittent).
Yeah, there are even VAG workshops that diligently replace the brake pressure sensor instead of the brake pedal switch. *Shakes head*
I hope I explained it to you in a way that makes sense .

Wow, thanks for the thorough explanation!
So, if I can summarize:
- When accelerating while lightly applying the brakes at the same time, the braking system electronically disengages, meaning you cannot brake.

Sure, here's the translation:
"Conversely!!!"
"The accelerator is released," but the braking power remains constant!!!

Wow, thanks for the thorough explanation!
So, if I can summarize:
- When the accelerator pedal is pressed simultaneously with a LIGHT touch on the brake pedal, the braking system is electronically engaged.
withdrawn, i.e., I can't brake normally.
My question regarding this is: What happens if I brake HARD?
-> Is there a serious risk of not being able to brake?
- The brake pressure is not being reached, which means the braking control becomes less precise.
Would you classify this problem as very critical, or only conditionally critical/harmless? (Unfortunately, I won't be able to get it to a workshop this weekend.)
Best regards from Haza.
P.S.: On my way home, I didn't notice anything unusual! There were also a few instances of harder braking.
P.P.S: je frĂźher der AGR Mist weg ist umso wohler wirst du dich nachher fĂźhlen! Udependent
